Sticky vents

What is the best way to deal with the sticky surface on the air vents in my 4200 CC, (2004) without going to the expense of replacing them?

There are a number of posts on the subject if you use the search facility.

You can either clean it off or remove them and send them across the pond and have them done for you via Loz.

Cheapest way is to scrape off the sticky with the help of a solvent
