I have this car almost 7 months, I have still few questions:
When Im always coming back to car after small journey front windscreen inside is always fogged and steamy, Im saving clutch using sport mode, but I must always push the button after start the engine, is it possible to stay always in sport mode? Is it standard that seat is really close to door panel/card and when Im taking seat belt it is always rubbing seat bolster? Anyone have problem with glovebox it is too low when it is closed, I was trying to adjust it but without succes...

Not sure about the glove box but I have the same issues with misting up(worse in cold weather) sport button and seat belt rubbing.

Mine occassional "forgets" its in sport mode, usually when the car has not been used for a while, or after severe overnight frost. Suspect voltage drop due to lack of use or cold temperature.
If yours is forgeting on each start it may be an early sign of your battery giving up the ghost. Dont think its anything to worry about though.

Thought you had to engage sport mode each time.......might be blocked pollen filter drainage issue 're fogging....there's a fix in the fixes section.

Maybe a bit of seat adjustment required and extra care getting out and in

A 4200 needs the Sport button pressing every time you get in whereas a Gransport remembers and leaves it in Sport.

I've heard before that the sport button needs to be pressed on each restart but mine stays on always. Every time I start up its still in sport mode, I guess mine must be broke, but in a good way as far as I'm concerned. :)

Second that point about the pollen filter being blocked - common fault and exactly what I had. Not hard to fix as a DIY job (though I'll admit to getting the garage to do it when they did the last service).

Sorry guys but my 2002 4200 always remembers its in Sport.
Has been ever since i bought it.
Steaming up most likely culprit is dirty or blocked up pollen filter.

Hi Nick nothing to do with the DMS remap?
I know my switch works correctly.
Just thinking aloud.

Hi Phil,
No mine is the same as yours, it remembers its in sport.
I w just saying I had heard a number of times people saying that they needed to press sport every time they started up, but I don't

Does anyone think that the different level of software upgrades on the different ECU hardware might be he source of he different behaviours of the sport button. There are definitely differences ie down change blip, hill start etc

Thirded. Almost certainly a leak of some kind into the cabin.

Isn't the pollen filter supposed to be changed every year, I always thought that the problems arose because the main dealers charged for changing them but didn't bother as its such a pain to do and also to confirm that hey actually did it.
I have always made it clear that it should be replace on a service and even bought the filter myself for fitting.

From a health point of view they should be changed annually. Many garages do not do due to pain in the **** location and cost of a charcoal active filter. Anyone who suffers from hay fever etc will benefit from a clean serviced ac system.

It's not that hard to do. Maybe 40 minutes of low effort DIY.

My 4200 (MY'04) never remembered the sports setting, but my GS always does unless, as James has already mentioned, it's been stood for ages.

The misting up could mean a re-gas is required, but I'd start with the pollen filter and also the grill covering the fan under the scuttle panel, which can get clogged up with leaves and general crud.

Worth feeling the carpets in the passenger and drivers foot wells also. If they're damp then also check the aircon' drain in case it's blocked.

Hope you get it sorted.

Pretty sure mine does remember. But it's been so bloody cold that I've hardly left it on.

I forth or fifth the sport mode button. Always stays on. I do think it has something to do with the software version you are running though. I wish there was an easier and cheaper way to find that sort of information out.
