don't even ask about the morality of removing your eleven year old son from education.
What else might he have achieved, concert pianist, writer, painter, .........happily self made man? Instead his "choice" was dictated, then cuckolded by his cross-eyed pop, insisting on beating his offspring on every deal.
Anyone remember the dad on the fast show, hammering his son at every sport going, to teach him the value of competition...........

I liked the Hartley Showroom but would never buy a car from them. However ref to the lambo deal, I would have been as tight and offered Tom £7.5k for me walk away. Play him at his own game!

I wouldn't. I'd take it and sell it myself if there was that much of a premium on it.

These types of salesmen would rip off their Granny to make an extra few quid, they have little interest in cars they are just a commodity for making money. Yes they are in business and have to make a profit, but I for one which much prefer to buy off a specialist who cares about the product they are selling, rather than just the money they are making on the deal. I've read loads about the 'sheik' over the years and while some is probably BS I still wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

Just watched it on catch up after reading this thread.
Doesn't do them any good to be honest, just boosts their egos for being on TV.

Well despite comments saying how impressed folk were with Joe Macari I am afraid I am anything but impressed!
I have spent a week trying to buy a car from them with the offer subject to getting a clutch wear reading.
After 3 days the service manager went to the showroom to look at the car and I got a report on the bodywork (which I already knew) and still no info on the clutch.
They have serviced the car for last 4 years and presumably could easily have got a hold of the service records but despite calls every day and emails daily nothing.
I was told on Friday I would get a call that day with the info and didn't.
Called today to find out what was happening to be told the car was now sold.
Salesman said he was aware I was waiting for information but no apology.
I am no loss to them I am sure but should anything else come up in their showroom I shall not be wasting a phone call.

So sorry to hear of your woes but that is the first negative report I've ever heard about Macari. Have you spoken to Joe about what happened? It might be an idea to, just to let him know how you have been treated.

Definitely worth feeding that back to Macari himself and interested to see the feedback. If I was him I would want to know how my sales team was performing. Sounds a bit like the salesman had another buyer who was asking less questions on the go and had you in reserve just in case, which is unacceptable and a poor show if close to the truth

This car is still on E-bay so either the ad is out of date or maybe they are trying to off-load it without a warranty.

No, car is "sold" and deposit taken I was told by a different salesman today.
I will be first to be contacted if deal falls through he says. Don't think so!
I asked from Tuesday to Friday every day by phone and email what was state of the clutch or any info they had given they did the last number of services.
Left messages to call me back but didn't get a call instead an email after 5.30 twice saying waiting for service department to look at car etc.
How difficult is it to take 5 minutes to look at your own service records or the record in the car??
I told them on Tuesday subject to this info I would buy blind as I was 700 miles away and would trust their description of the car.
I did this with richard grace and was prepared to do so again based on the forum feedback about them.
Pressure of work or bigger every fish to fry, I don't know but seems car was "sold" on Friday although I spoke to them again at noon on Friday asking for this info.
I was promised a call back soon as the salesman was going on holiday that evening and would get back to me before he left etc.
Really can't be bothered with making any more of a fuss.
No one died and I have asked Richard to find me a car if he stumbles across something suitable in his travels.
I am the first to praise good service and reluctant to bad mouth a firm but this was not one incident on one day and I really don't think I was being unreasonable in the circumstances.
In fact on Thursday night I emailed them saying if they really didn't want to sell me the car let me know as I had the impression they were not interested in dealing with me and I got an email reply saying sorry but they had been busy and did want to sell the car and would deal with it on Friday.
As I hadn't heard by noon I again called them.
Something will turn up but I won't be buying from Joe Macari if it pops up on their website!
Maybe I was just unlucky from other comments but until last week I had not heard of the firm so this has been my only experience with them.
I am fairly sure it will be my last as well! lol!

Del Amitri. Waking Hours, right?
Nothing Ever Happens. I'm not sure what album I just have it on a greatest hits.

I watched the programme last night, quite enjoyed it. I must say that I thought Tom Hartley didn't come across very well. With his 'hard-nosed' negotiation, bragging and MTV Cribs-style tour of his house he seemed to be trying a bit too hard. The house and showroom set up is really odd as well. A couple of Essex mansions sitting in the middle of what looked like a 70s housing estate.

Amari came across much better, but is clearly hen pecked by his Mrs!

I don't rate either. It was like an MTV Cribs episode in that respect. However good luck to them both, they're both far more successful than I'll ever be.

There are many other people to buy nice cars off. Walkersport would be my first choice or indeed private.
I watched it on 4OD or whatever it's called. Not again, that is the most dreadful tele catch-up I've used in sometime. The **** adverts and no escape!
