I am afraid it's a bit more than £20! It's £200. Just checked: new these are over £600

Is that price per actuator?

If the suspension ECU is well designed, a seizing suspension will not result in a destroyed motor.
The control software will detect a locked suspension, raise the error light and stop using it for that driving session.
That's probably one of the reasons why it does the sweep on startup.

yes it is I am afraid. If I was having 500 parts made it would be 20 pence each ...

There are 3 planetary gears inside which dramatically increase torque and that's why if the shaft is locked, the plastic parts break. The sweep at the start, i believe is to establish the movement limits and whether the motor works or not.

ERROR light on mine came on and went off earlier today. It stayed on an hour ago and won't turn off. I know there is a initialisation procedure to check but they are a **** to get at under washer bottle and ABS pump in front and right in the rear wings. What is the best way other than banging the car on an SD2 reader to determine which corner is shot.

If you use a long screw driver with the pointy end against the motor and the handle against your ear, u should be able to hear the motors working (or not) while someone else turns the ignition on..

Check the fuses first, mine was a blown fuse. The second time it was a broken actuator.

The one under the ABS pump can be accessed with the ignition coil cover and fire wall removed. Not that bad really.
