As all cars are foreign in Ireland anyway, what car does the average person buy over there then, foreign!

Dave

Indeed Dave, for many decades ( as they did in other countries) all sorts of marques supplied knock up kits to be "assembled" in RoI, Citroen, Ford etc, so they arrived in big boxes then local labour, paint or finishing lines were used to greatly reduce the taxes on new cars.

Dels were effectively a kit car also, nearly everything was brought on site and assembled....not sure Matt if that much more valuable as an iconic car with a renault engine and volvo gearbox....etc

There were small numbers of cars built in Ireland over the decades, but not for long or in big numbers

Not VRT.......they don't even list maserati....prepare to get shafted!

On the old RR I bought in October, they'd want 36% extra from me if I lived in RoI

Which is why several Dublin friends of mine drive vans as their daily drivers on commercial road tax which is significantly less.
