Tax per mile

Well it was obvious, really. I assume they'll tax chargers or pay per mile.

Hope they tax chargers or put car charging on to a different tariff. Otherwise for those of us who live in a very rural location, we will get disproportionately taxed. In any event, cant see the local farmers driving around in electric tractors where I live.

As with all these things, I do wonder how a government of the competence level of this one could ever implement any kind of system that charges per mile driven. As my friend, who is admittedly somewhat cynical, said to me recently "these are the guys that can't stop people rowing across the Channel and yet they still think Britannia rules the waves".

Something like this is bound to come along, further out given every mile will be recorded and sent to a large chilled database somewhere and nearer term as mileage is recorded on MOTs. I've got five cars so it might average out ok but if retrospective taxes come in on high CO2 cars then our sort of steers could be worth pennies in due course. Lets face it who is going to pay 30000 euros in France as year one tax on a 911 or such?

It’s the same story as when they promoted diesel cars and now rob diesel owners blind, once the move electric has enough wind behind it (see what did there) it will get ya mixed just like cars always have been.

Simple... all cars must have black box that records how far you drive, speed, time of day/night (for extra tariff in rush hour). Said box made compulsory by your insurance provider, transmits a code to police if stolen, not taxed etc,

Big brother will drive you off the road and into a community Uba car... drive now whilst you can.

What is this imbecile talking about??

The Treasury has] still not grasped that British industry is not at risk from dirty imports but from industries powered by cheap solar power in Tunisia, the Gulf and Australia."

How much stuff do we get that’s built in those 3 areas?? Square root of f-all I imagine. Apart from oil. We get plenty of that from the gulf...
So what’s he proposing? Power our industry by solar, in our sunless climate?...

Meanwhile, our industry is truly at risk by competition from China, who build dozens of new coal fired power stations every year, FACT...

Sorry but I hate reading such utter f-wittery

And Germany is still knocking coal powered power stations out, opened another one this year. Climate change? More Climate Tax.

In the interests of balance, they also closed 8 older coal generation plants with lacked the system which removes nitrogen oxides, dust and sulfur. But it is still a shame that it opened.
