Same, monthly then cancel it/reinstate when I am not using here over the winter, saves about half the cost.

Yeah. I had a similar. Except it was three Italian cars. Two like yours and another at £320 or so.

I paid them outright so as to get it over and done with. A bit of pain that is soon relieved by driving rather than the drip drip drip throughout the year. I did the same with the insurance too.

Well, you can only drive one but other people can drive the others insurance permitting.

The answer has always been add road fund tax to fuel costs, the more you use the more you pay applies to both road use and fuel.

No government brave enough to hike even more duty on fuel

Not when they currently get more money for vehicles that are sat around doing nothing. They may find that this ability to tax on a monthly basis via the Internet works against them for that. Fuel tax is the way to go, but that's only short term as more people will move to electric over the next 10 years.

Was a great day when my Stag became historic class at 40. Having a couple of play cars having to tax for the little mileage they do can add up.

They'll never do that, high mileage users would go crazy plus they must be making a killing out of taxing every used car sold twice in the same month, artics do 10mpg, imagine how much things would go up if diesel was £1 a litre more

I just take a deep breath and hand over £3,500 each year for my car Insurance. Tax does not cost me anything as it is by direct debit on each car annually so that's the only way my pea brain can justify it!!
