All very scary Bob, I see nothing from the Italians? Quite pleased that they look like they will be their usual 'Late to the table'
I do like all this tech screens but surely, from a safety angle, dashes like this are there to distract (advertise). Suppose the only way that would be aloud if the car was self drive.

It's also that a lot of younger people aren't that interested in cars any more. Quite a few of my 20 year old son's friends have never bothered to pass their tests whereas we couldn't wait. The driving experience is less important to them than the ability to use Spotify or have their texts read out to them.
If that screen stops working Maserati will charge £7k for a replacement and then someone on the forum will discover that it's made of eight Fiat 500 sat nav screens stuck together.
As usual its a case of technology looking for a use case rather than something that people want. I can't see any reason to have this other than the manufacturers looking for a differentiator. There are lots of knocks on the MTC system but what more does it need to do?
I really hope that some manufacturers at least, please FCA don't do it, concentrate on the driving experience and providing information necessary to the person behind the wheel, rather than turn cars into mobile entertainment systems.

Manufacturers have to develop cars that have smart phone like capabilities because that is what is going to be demanded from buyers going forwarded. It's also a by product of the connectivity required to produce autonomous cars which understand their surroundings.
