Very annoying - this is why we moved to a house where our nearest neighbour is half a mile away so that our dogs don't p**s people off

Lambdas and the modern ECU sensor system, in a nutshell:

Exhaust gasses are monitored on both pre and post cat sides via Lambda or O2 sensors.

These determin how the engine is running with the information being fed back to the ECU and the fuelling and timing are adjusted accordingly to get the engine to run to its leanest/optimum state.

Removing one or both of the cats means that the Lambda sensors get confused as basically there is no noticeable difference in the pre and post cat readings and it throws an error.

Thank you for the lesson Matt, makes perfect sense. And the fact that I still have cats, albeit 200 cells & they worked perfectly well on Adam's car, I am concluding that it's probably one or more of the 4 sensors failing. Let's see what the diagnostic throws up.
Cheers

... not a dog fan I am afraid.

Q: What does a Korean man wear when he takes his dog out?
A: Oven gloves.

With apologies to Koreans. And dogs.

Morning all. Commuter again today, rattling through the dark countryside towards London.

Our local council has helpfully repaired the street light, so the local dead fox I walk past in the morning is new beautifully floodlit and becoming quite smelly. Quite an assault on the senses so early in the morning. At least there'll be some upside to the weather turning cooler!

Have a good day all.

Oh my that is a sore head...

May have had a few too many at the Farmers Union, Exeter last night, for a pale ale it had one heck of a punch!

Oh well, up and off to prison for me this morning to maintain the kit, then back to the pub for a hearty breakfast and off to Somerset.

Have fun all...

Farmers union in Exter, I cannot shake visions of Alan Partridge having a dead Cow dropped on him from that canal bridge!
