Oh yes and there is an e-ticket in my inbox for Abu Dhabi on the 27th flying back for Monday 30th... Any of you regular visitors want to give me any heads up of protocol, do's & dont's and dress code etc. especially as I will be working in the palace gardens!!!

I'll drop you a PM Newton.

Morning all.

Andy, good work. You were back from the supermarket before I was even up/ Making for a bit of lost time so far - have off-loaded an upright piano, a ferociously heavy old thing, into the back of a transit and on its way to its new owner, cleaned the oven, recovered all the stuff which spent last night blowing round the back garden, booked a hotel and almost an outbound flight to Vegas in the new year (return waitlisted) and guzzled some coffee. Now to brew some more.

Apparently we have to go to the shops this afternoon. Noooo!

Morning all.

Shortest day today so we are now officially on our way to summer!!!!

Got to go into town for some last bits....then if the rain backs off, I'll go knock out 30 miles on the bike.

It may be that the days will get longer but it is not until the 19th Jan that the amount of heat lost by the earth is compensated by the amount of extra heat being generated by the sun being higher in the sky.

Yep only longer days after the winter solstice. Interesting info that about the position of the sun, thanks

I have to say that, IMO, when the days start to get longer that's when we start moving towards summer. It gives a bit more of an upbeat feeling to cr4p and cold weather.

P....No! it is fact. Despite the longer days the amount of heat lost from the earth & sea continues to be higher than the amount of heat absorbed by them during the longer days. Its only after the 19th that it equals out.

However you have to be aware that in the autumn both land and sea still contain a lot of heat absorbed over the summer months...this is lost continually up to the 19th Jan.

According to the scientists if the gulf stream didn't come across to Ireland........we'd need a nuclear power station in every county to compensate.........for the 10 degree heat loss

Good Afternoon All,
Well I have tried to catch up with all the stories, but there seems to be so much happening..!!
Dem,
Congratulations mate, I thought it must have been something like that and you kept that close to your chest..!! Personally I would get in to the Partnership ASAP, if you are dropping money there has to be an eventual reward for that sacrifice and a Partnership wouldd be it. OK you will get the commission, but you would get that anyway and a higher salary to boot, so a Partnership and you both make a sacrifice and get the eventual rewards. He obviously knows how good you are..!!
Newton,
Don't wear skirts, only trousers, otherwise they will lock you up..!! Have a good one mate and enjoy the trip, loads of stuff to buy out there at good money..!! You could contact one of the members out there and they could drive you around in your free time..!!
Benny,
Keep your chin up mate, if the youngsters are drinking more than you, don't worry, there are other things you are probably better at..!!

I can't remember the other stories I saw, only the longest day thing and I am officially now looking forward to the sunshine and the earth heating back up in January, all is well with the world..!!
Have a good one whatever you are doing and if you can, go fast..!!
Cheers
R
