Ben, sounds like a great day for a roof down drive..Enjoy mate......My friend has just offered me a Meredes SL500 for 7k.....2002.....so tempting now the weather will be picking up.....only thing is I have heard a number of horror stories and very high running costs for the early SL's.....

I wouldn't bother with an SL500; not that quick and expensive to run. The Audis were very nice; the RS4 very quick, planted and agile and a fantastic burble on the downshift. The RS6 is a a very competent car. However, it red lines at 6.5k and it gets there very quickly but, in dynamic (sport) mode it doesn't change up automatically so it sits there on the limiter popping and banging. When you get used to it, it feels like you are constantly having to short shift and whilst it is very quick, it doesn't get your '********' tingling. Very, very nice cars but would I buy one? No.

Had a great driving day in the spyder. I took a Petrolhead who has been in a lot of high end cars but never a Maserati. He told me he has a soft spot for the 4200/GS but has never been in one. He absolutely loved it! The noise, the acceleration, even the grip and handling had him waxing lyrical as he never realised how good they are. And, Burnley beat the ba5tards for the first time in 35 years so, all in all, the perfect day! Now for a beer.

Yes mate it does seem that they are rather expensive to run and repair and not that reliable....Later cars are better from what I can gather but 2002/2003 were a bit of a problem.......May pass on that one....

2004 is when they got better

You are correct Andy.....4200 was the last true manual from Maserati and you will never see another one again...

Thanks for the replies, that's a shame I really didn't get on well with the cambiocorsa, I'm sure the newer one is better but I guess I'm just a little old fashioned!! Might have to look for a nice clean 4200 manual.

Was going to txt u about burnley.....good news for you

A great day for us Dem and now 8 points clear of 3rd placed Derby. One game at a time and see where we end up but the East Lancs monkey is now off our backs. Now, Blackburn haven't beaten us for 4 years! Until today Dyche was the 'Ginger Mourinho' now Mourinho is the 'Silver Dyche'!

Your doing what Liverpool are doing...not expected anything this year and we are outsiders for the title.....did always have a soft spot for blackburn when kenny was there but not since he left.....

Morning, SMers. Looks like a hot Dubai day outside. Bit foggy but that'll doubtless burn off soon enough.

Have a good one.

Trouble is that the single clutch made them fell a bit old these days....My mate Golf GTD double clutch paddle shift feels better than the CC...I don't mind the CC in the 4200/GS but I do now what you mean.....

Good morning all.......Off today then in for two days and off for a week and a bit so winding down now.

You certainly get about C ..... but then noticed that with lots on here......

It's an odd thing for me, Andy. I like traveling but don't really like being away from home, either in that there's stuff you can't do cos you're sitting in a hotel room.
Of course, being able to successfully demonstrate that you can, and will work with those from other cultures (and don't think for a second that working with even the Americans is like working with brits;) ) is a hugely marketable skill which companies want to use.

Moving company arrive in 2.5 hours and the place still looks lived in even though there's 50 full boxes in a wall dividing the living room! Ok, time to get crack1ng!

It's not for everyone, Tess. I don't like leaving Mrs Catman, and she doesn't like leaving me. She's just gone off to work and I know I'm going to miss her.

I know what you mean Chris...I have been away in London for 18 months now and it stinks...hotels and serviced appartments are no substitute to coming home to loved ones a d even your own bed/cd collection and the chance to relax in your own home and garden.
