Morning all,
Eventually got back from Cardiff last night just before midnight in the rental E class. I seemed to hit every set of overnight roadworks on the way after a promising start. It didn't help that I found it difficult to get a comfortable driving position, I may have time to find that by the time the Ghibli is fixed.
The initial diagnosis is the power steering pump. I'll get a full report once it makes it to the local dealer, along with an estimate of when it will be fixed. They did mention that they've been waiting on a steering rack for a Ferrari for 3 months! With the Ghibli being more of a mass production car I wouldn't expect it to be anything like that.
After the 240 miles in the E class I took at look at some reviews, to compare them to the Ghibli reviews. What a joke. I found the whole control system counter intuitive. There are about three different ways to switch between the different modes on the screen, and I find the touch screen on the Ghibli far easier to use than the wheel or touchpad. The only things I like are the sat nav displaying the next two junctions or services, with distances, overlaid onto the screen and the cruise control. Hopefully I won't have to live with it too long.
Lazy day today, but that means I'll have to do some work tomorrow. Without the Maserati outside to tempt me that should be easier than normal.
