Yes agreed....if info /tips/advice/how to guides could be saved it would a boon for the older Maser owner, perhaps Matt can you approach the guy who took it over and offer to "host/save" those years of data ( and of course acknowledge and thank him for being allowed to do so)?

Well, I did try and call Jamie but the mobile number I had for him is now dead.

Its been a few days now so either it has been taken down intentionally (but you would have expected a holding page explaining) or the server has failed (most probable) or its gone to the wall which would be a great shame to have lost all the data.

Frank, I mean when I go there:
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
That indicates the server is in some kind of failed state. As Matt said, if the organisation had died, you'd expect a 'UK Forum is gone' or similar.
This is what you tend to get when something's broken, and no one's got round to fixing it.

Is it a bit of a one man band? Server may have fallen over and it is the holiday season after all, he might not know.

I have emailed Jamie and he is a techie so I would have thought he would switch the domain to another server and put up an explanation page.

Our server, like most, has a raid system, which means it writes to two seperate hard drives at the same time. If on fails they pull the raid disk and out it in a new blade and voila your back up again.

I just hope he had a daily backup of the database.

There's lots of other reasons you might get that error. But you know that. Grand mothers and eggs etc

Looks like the Maserati Club site has the same error message (not sure if this only happened recently as I had no cause to check until now). Coincidence, or do they share something?

I've now got the Club back OK but the Forum is still out. So probably a coincidental short lived problem - maybe I should stop worrying about transient internet behaviour!

Thats good, the more info, wherever it is, that helps keep our cars running the better :)

Indeed. Jamie is one of the good guys, its just a shame BirdCage screwed it up and we are no longer one happy community.
