Top won't go down and it's not the typical problem

Boy, this car is testing me...

Went to drop the top today and the rear portion unscrewed itself and lifted up 90 degrees as it normally does. The hydro pump that raises that portion turned off and that's it. No more movement, no noises, no nothing aside from the flashing top light on the dash.

Normally I believe the rear cover would release and raise up (or maybe the windshield locks release, I can't remember) but this isn't happening. I've done a battery reset. I've closed it and tried to open it a number of times and it's stopping in the same place. I've checked the fuses in the battery area and they are all good.

Any ideas?

Here's a picture of where everything comes to a stop while trying to lower the top:

Update: Fixed it.

Just posting my solution for others that may run into this problem and find this thread in a search.

It was the rear cover release that was stopping the progress. I had tried to tap it through the little access hole behind the drivers seat but it wasn't making a difference. I removed the rear carpet/board to gain better access. I gave the lever assembly that the cables attach to a tap in the direction I needed it to move (from left to right) to release the cables that go to the locks on the rear deck cover and it popped right over.

I had to manually close the roof and give it two cycles before the car figured out everything was where it should be and doing what it is suppose to do but it's back to working like a charm (knock on wood).

The cover latches are adjustable and have micro-switches to register the latched and unlatched positions. Yours might be set too tight (low). My cover rattled because a latch was set too high so I adjusted them and, as preventative maintenance, I unplugged the switches and sprayed the plugs with contact cleaner. To manually release the latches you have to give them a good tap, a light hit with a hammer, through the hole for them to release.

So, release the cover manually through the hole. Look at how the loop and the latches engage and adjust as necessary. Then use the switch in the storage box to latch the top and watch that it's not too tight or lose. Repeat if needed.
