Recently been thinking about track cars and the age old problem that compromised road cars just don't live up to the track day world and then this pops up on PH now that is a lot of track car for not silly money. More than capable of leaving a lot of much more expensive machinery behind

Does look great, shame it's not road legal, I'm looking for something similar for myself but want to be able to drive it on the road.

I believe it is to do with type approval as they changed the requirements specifically for motorcycle derived vehicles; I was on the Stracarron waiting list when the change put them out of business overnight!

So, let me get this straight. You have too many cars, so have decided to sell the Spyder. And buy another car less useable. That's it in a nutshell, isn't it? If so, you are bonkers. But in a good way.

Buy an Mx5, supercharge it, drop it, uprate suspension and brakes, arbs etc and you will have lots of fun for little money.

One of my FB friends suggested a similar solution but in my opinion you still end up with a compromised road car even if it is a good one. The few times I have driven out and out race cars the difference is amazing, £15k is a lot of money for a toy but the pound per performance figure is extremely high around 210 BHP and 450kgs should be more than enough to see most road cars off

BUY IT!

If that were in the states here id of sucked it up so fast the text on the computer listing wouldn't have even dried!

Things you'll never wish on the track.. "I wish I bought a heavier, more complex, expensive to fix, less brakes, less exciting car"

The bike motors are bulletproof. They run 275whp turbo on the hayabusas with just a stronger clutch spring kit for 100$. Blow the motor its 1500$.

OMG Im drooling.

No offence but the mx5 will have higher limits than you.

I did quite a few track days back in the UK and drove all my cars there and back and to be honest as much fun as it is driving an Italian car hard and fast I prefer that on good open roads.
For me the Best fun and certainly the cheapest were cars I picked up off customers.
The Honda Civic 1600 VTech me and my son both used on SM track days was un breakable and got in no one's way.
The BMW E36 3.0 M3 was just a hoot and the only car I got told to slow down in.
The Honda cost me 700 pounds and the M3 350 pounds he only wanted 300 but he was totally skint and I felt sorry for the guy so gave him the extra and told him to go and have a few Beers.
Both cars with a bit of money spent could have made them awesome.
That's the way I would be going.

I had an MX5, fun on the road as it does everything you want at a relative low speed. On track it was just that though, slow.

That radical looks like it would be great fun. Twice the money bust still not mega expensive at circa £30k a Lotus 2-Eleven would be a great choice as a road legal track day car and they hold their value well.

You wouldn't go far wrong with an Elise for track and road.......2-11 is amazing but lots of money but you would lose any money when you sell as they are going one way.
