Why was it not offered on here would have been snapped up sensibly by one of the many prospective buyers.

That dealer did the dirty on me 4 years ago (that actually turned out to be favor, now having the Maser)
Went to buy an immaculate 928 GTS that was advertised for 18K.
Because of the distance from home, arranged to travelled down the day before, and saw it briefly before they closed, still with £18K in the window.
The following morning he announced to me that he had just sold it over the internet to an Australian buyer for £20K (although still was £18K on his web site).
....BUT if I paid him £20K, I could still have it!!!
I still wanted the test drive, I was in love with it, and after 3 hours waiting (yes 3), he got it out of the showroom so I could test drive it.
It had no petrol in it, so he suggested that I could put some in at the garage down the road, at MY COST!
It drove okay, but out of the showroom, it had been badly painted down the nearside with overspray in the wheel arches, and the service history was less than perfect.
I walked after that.
On the way home I asked a friend to phone up and enquire if the car was still for sale....it was.
A couple of years later I saw the same car for sale at a Porsche specialist, which again confirmed it never left our shores.
Out of interest I spoke to the specialist dealer about it, especially as he was asking £35K for it, and he was quite open saying that it was a commission sale and the owner was trying to re-coup over £20K he had spent on it in the 2 years he had owned it....so lucky escape!

Crazy, why did they let it go for so little? Hard to believe it wouldn't sell with history/mileage.

They are not far from me....He never had a great reputation in the early days of starting up......but they have expanded over the years so are doing something right.....buying cars at 8k and selling for 13k I suppose.

Take out a grand for haggling, the same for a warranty some prep bits and that 5k shrinks considerably. ..a big show room costs a **** of a lot to run so you must sell lots of stock just to meet overheads - and thats before you pay cleaners, Insurance and your staff.

I remember you saying this before, or someone on here did

It was one of those cases you only hear about it after the event.

Also he had to get shot quickly and buy an estate car, so trade in was the only quick option.

Not usually a fan of after market alloys either, but it looks good on those.

Important point I had not mentioned, he thought it needed a clutch soon as was still on the original, so there's 1500 quid to start.

But maintained by shiltech.

I went and looked at it a couple of weeks ago. Looked pretty tired, there were plenty of things that would need doing, none of which he wanted anything to do with - from memory - Seats wouldn't move forward / back, reversing sensors didn't work, windows didn't drop on opening, AC didn't work and the gearchange cables were all out of adjustment (tough to change gear). TBH 8-9k seems to be about right, there are a few bills (as well as the clutch) in the near future of it.
