Tyre wear

Just discovered some significant scrubbing on the inner nearside front tyre. Significant to the extent that a 50 mile drive took it from partially visible tread to no tread. Car tracks ok, tyre pressure ok, just about about to book a new tyre but wondering if an alignment would be sufficient in these circumstances? I never experienced straight line tracking with such significant wear in such a short space of time with any car I've owned. Also can the tracking be adjusted on all 4-wheels or is 2-wheel tracking the only/best option? All other tyres are ok

That looks exactly like my front tires were before I had full wheel alignment done, you need a full alignment which is front and rear, somewhere like centre gravity in Chesham I believe, or good specialist. I had mine done through Emblem in Poole as it involves shims which they supply.

Was yours just the one tyre? I'd need to go through the history but fairly sure it wasn't done all that long ago. So a 2-wheel is a waste of time?

What car is this?
If GT, then very normal at OEM alignment specs. OEM settings has a fair bit of toe out to make it turn in faster and feel less heavy. Go to a good alignment specialist and get either zero Toe, or even a little bit of toe in.

If yours hasn't got much Toe out, then it could be a sign of worn bushes.

If its just one wheel, likely you've hit a pot hole or something and knocked it out of line, or again worn bushes.

Start with a good alignment place, say you don't want OEM settings and go from there.

It's a 4200 GT. I've emailed my local specialist, not sure if they have an alignment machine but they may be able to recommend someone. Typically I'd just order a new tyre online and go have it fitted but the local tyre places don't inspire confidence.

It was both of my front tires, although one was worse than the other, tread went from 6mm on the outside to bald on the inside, took them over 4 hrs to do the alignment as it involves adding/removing shims on the wishbone mounting brackets.
