Last week overnight a toerag decided he wanted what was in my van more than I did! Fortunately the deadlock as standard with the high spec VW T6 worked and prevented his impious designs. Not it has to be said before he had caused around £500 of damage to the side door and handle!
So I always choose a van in non-standard colour (metallic blue), I have usually got a kayak or two on the roof so it looks like a camper/day van setup and I'm fairly subtle about where I have the doors open so as not to advertise the contents.
As mentioned the spec is high and it has alarm and immobiliser, it is deadlocked and remote central etc.
Now I have a quandry and seek your sage advise please:
Repair the door, keep it looking stock on the exterior?
Repair with stainless plate on the lock of just the one door (prevent lock forcing)?
Fit all the doors with said stainless plates?
As above but colour match the plates to the van?
Fit these and also full drop bolt (hook) deadlocks to all doors?
I'm just aware that covering it with extra security advertises valuable contents (in the eyes of the d!ckheads).
Discuss please...
