Already speaking with Richard with regards to his one, however not sure if its a little too much for me, (not that its over priced I think he has it priced well just that I think at just over 10 I might struggle to get the money together)

Was thinking If I could get a private sale from an enthusiast at around 8500-9000

I am going to buy something this week and the 3200 is top of the list so anything will be considerd

You will get one for under 10k...as long as you go in with your eyes open and get it inspected you can get a good one...............Most of the cream of the crop seem to be over 10k but thats not to say you will not find a gem for under that...

I think you are right Andy I've been having a good look around and it appears £9000 from an enthusiast privately is more than achievable just got to find the right one

Tony, as long as you don't mind high miles this 4200 CC is In budget and has the later wheels...

Great spot Andy I'd pretty much given up looking for 4200's
If the service history is genuinely full and all major things have been carried out as and when they are needed.
Other than the mileage what would be the downside to this one? Value seems OK the ones with 60-70 seem to all be up for over 12
How are the newer F1 boxes?
I prefer the overall look etc of the 3200 but from what people have said the 4200 can be an easier car to live with, I guess if you can manage 10k a year in one it can't be to bad.
My other slight concern is the wife, she will drive whatever I get and she is used to N/A performance cars but she has not driven Turbos much also the TVR scared her!! She loves Maseratis and I would want her to be able to drive which ever one I get.
Do you think the 4200 could be an easier drive?

Tony, I've owned a 3200 a its a great car...it really does take time to learn to drive her fast....bit like TVR I suppose.......The 4200 is a differnt kettle of fish....I've driven a few and had one for a week and if it was me I would go 4200 every time......Easier to drive and live with and the Ferrari engine is reliable......No a thing wrong with a 3200 but it comes a different time when Maserati were just finding their feet and starting to look at reliability.......Under Ferrari Maserati started to get right on top of this and you do hear about more 'issues' with a 3200 over a 4200........I do prefer te look of the 3200 as you do but I prefer the drive of the 4200.....But thats just me......

If you believe the add for that car it must be worth a look.......a 4200 under 10k is rare......The miles wouldn't put me off as there have been a few 4200's/QP's for sale over the last few years with 80k to 100k on the clock....As long as its been serived and looked after I would see no issue with it........Plus this car has had two owners in the same family..

I agree it does tick alot of boxes I'm going to give them a call today they are fairly local to me so I should be able to pop over later for a look

Not wanting to be a wet blanket, but that car has been on the market for *months*. It was on my list when I was looking back in October. I *didn't* look at it, in all fairness, but I can't think it's still around if it's kosher.
Having said that, I will be *very* jealous if it is good, and best of luck Tony!

Well it appears it's a good one!! Not being one to rush into this kind of decision I popped round on my way home from work and had a good look round and a good drive around inspected all of the perfect service history and told him I'd be back on Tuesday to collect it!!

It's a bit of a gamble but at the money I thought justified, yes it had been up for sale a little while but then most of the ones I have enquired on have, we have just had a whole month of snow and horrible weather so no real surprise.

Guy selling seems very genuine it was his brothers car from new who gave it to him when he purchased a new GT, he takes it to the Main dealer in Birmingham every year for a service and anything else it needs, last service was March last year but was in with them in June for a complete overhaul of the A/C system.

The bodywork is not perfect it's been parked on a islington street so the wheels will all need a re-furbing and it has a few small dings around it but nothing major, the only bit that slightly concerned me was a small area of rust on the rear just below the light, however it seems to only be surface so should be easy enough to have done by a good body shop.

The interior is stunning genuinely looks like new not a mark on the leather really impressed.

So before I give him all my money any alarm bells that should be ringing?!!
