Looking for a really good Brera Spyder. Er indoors finds my 4200 Spyder a bit intimidating to drive and she REALLY wants a Brera. Would like an LE, prefer 1.75 or 2.2 petrol. Black or blue. Must be in first class order. We have looked at several, and its hard to find one that doesn't need something major doing to it! People do seem to fib about condition too! Anybody got a line on a nice Brera?

The 1.75 is the one to buy by all accounts....Best engine I'm told....I have a 2.4 diesel in my Coupe which is OK but not a classic engine you expect in an Alfa.....

They're on over looked car for me - I know they're big and I think people make the mistake of comparing them to the regular spider but I like them and lots of car for the money too

I wouldnt go for the 2.2 its very sedate compared to the 1.75 tbi engine. Thats just my opinion though. The 2.4 diesel engine that is in Andyk's and in the 159 ti i had needs to be fettled to get the best out of it. As Andy said its not a classic Alfa engine you would expect.

One of the great looking Spiders on the market for mine.

I had the 3.2 V6 version in the coupe and the fuel economy was on par with the V8 in the Maser.

The car's enormous weight kills the driving dynamics but such a beautiful thing.

Thinking of getting one as a daily. Most likely the 1.75 or the 2.2.

The Brera is a beautiful car..........Sadly for me that's where it stops...and I own one......it goes well is a bit nose heavy (think the 1.75 sorted some of that though) but it will never be an Alfa that in years to come people yearn..........

Fair enough Andy. But here in OZ, the values are still holding pretty well for these cars.

Not sure of the UK situation.

They are holding here but then they are pretty low for early cars.....start around 4500/5000.....

The 2.2 is not a great engine, a GM unit and not one of there best. The 1.75 is gem powerful but surprisingly thirsty. Love the Brera looks but as Andy said they are very nose heavy and the bigger engines just make the problem worse.

Great cars to be seen in but not that dynamic to drive, they will hold their value but normally bought by non, new to brand Alfisti who don't realise the characters of the older cars. 916 Spider, GTV & GT are the old style Alfas and will hold values better IMO

Got one!

A nice black 2008 LE model with tan "frau" leather interior. 65k miles, and timing chain already done. Not 100% perfect, but not bad and the bits and pieces that need doing are easily done.
So thats 4 Italian cars in the house now. 3 are convertibles.....
I've already spotted some bits on the Brera that look like they came off my Granturismo! And the hood mechanism looks bloody similar to the one on my 4200 Spyder.... Bet the parts prices are a bit different though!

...and the 916 GTV Spyder too then, that shares the 4200 roof parts too.

Well done, they look nice if nothing else.
