Wanted Gran Turismo 4.7 MC shift preferred - Red, Tan or Creme interior

So I'm looking for a GTS. This is what i'm after
  • Light or eye popping paint colour (White, Silver, Red, Grey, Yellow, etc) - no black, dark blue, etc
  • Red, Tan or Creme interior. I have a phobia (joke) to dark (i.e black interiors), yellow paint on black would be the only exception. If it makes anyone feel better - its the same for any of my other cars. I was probally dropped as a baby.
  • 4.7 GTS
  • MC shift preferred, ZF not ruled out.
  • 2010 onwards preferred, or cam variators done
  • Full service history
  • Up to 60k Miles
  • I'm okay with a car needing work, as long as I know what I am up against. Prefer to be able to drive for a few months before coming off the road for work.
  • HPI clear, etc
  • Wrapped is fine, in fact I love wraps...but original paint would still need to be White, Silver, Red, Grey, etc underneath, as Im a sucker for "bolt on originality".
  • 2 keys, but not a deal breaker
  • perfer 3 to 6 owners, but not a deal breaker
  • Will travel anywhere in the UK...but will want to PPI before purchase.
So hopefully I'm not looking for champagne on beer money. I have up to £24k to hand....but really I prefer to be lower (i.e £20k to give me some contingency). I'll explain why in a second.

I know what your thinking - colour is not important, condition is. Also I would be better to "up my budget" to around £28k-35k. Richard Grace has some gorgeous GTS in that range.....love that yellow one!

Unfortunately my life isn't champagne. I have some money put aside, but also need to reserve some cash for some impending important house work, and some important family things....so really "upping my budget" is not a real option. I have been watching the market almost daily since March (Ebay, Autotrader, Exchange and Mart, motors, this site, facebook, etc). I can confirm there have been 4.7's MC shifts for sale in the £15k to £25k price bracket, so I know I'm not being totally unrealistic.

I'm not in a rush. Ive already decided I am getting one, and happy to wait for the right car to come up. If that takes me until this time next year so be it.

I know colour isnt more important than condition, but while I am already in love with a GT, I need to fall even deeper to look past some of the part prices and part availability problems (i.e the current NLA worry of wheel bearings), so the only way that is going to happen is with a car I literally love the look of.

I've owned over 120 cars (was motor trade at one point in my life, but I now write instruction manuals for a living (LOL)), so I hope to contribute quite a bit to the forum in terms of "oily bit advice" once I can finally get my hands dirty of course (and know what I would actually be talking about).

Going further I maintain a workshop with ramp (hobby only space) which I share with a mate, and where I restore my 1979 911SC (my 15th a/c 911). I help my work colleagues work on their cars, and I would extend that to anyone in the South West with a GT (i'm in Cornwall).

That's all a free resource for a local forum member to use, I don't work on cars anymore, and never want to again. I am literally just happy to assist those that want to work on their own car. I just not yet have any useful GTS knowledge or an actual GTS....but I am working on it!

20k for a GT-S… ‘cough’
I think you’re probably grasping at straws there.

I was in the same position as you 2 months ago with a budget of 25k. Although there are a few in that price range, most if not all will require money. In the end I had to increase my budget.

Looks like there are 3-4 early mc shifts at about 22k on autotrader but I guess you’ve looked at them. No idea on condition and history either of course but doesn’t seem as unlikely as first thought!

Thanks guys, yeah i've had a good look already. Just not quite to "spec". Im checking the regular sites almost daily. Im not trying to depress anyone or offend anyone, i'm more than happy to take on something needing work, and equally help others (see end of my initial post above)

I was already offered a white 4.7mc for £20k about 8 weeks ago, but it had a black interior which is just not my thing. There have been MC GTS's for sale in the price bracket of £15-£25k, im not saying there great, just saying I have seen them! That said I have seen some very nice MC GTS from £22 to £24k which we ready to go and enthusiast owned. I do have £24k, I just prefer to save some of it in exchange for something that needs some work which I can plan (PPI).

If you guys really want to know about "1 that got away" there was a white 4.2 in wales which sold on facebook market place for £4.5k (click here) about 2 months ago, a guy local to him bought it, and it surfaced on ebay and sold very quickly in the last few days ago for £13k (click here), Its the same car, and was unmistakable in white with Stradale wings, cat N, and facelift bumper, but also plenty of warning lights. When it was £4.5k it was a non runner with a flat battery. I spoke to the guy but he already had a buyer. Not that I actually wanted it (not what im looking for)....but it just would have been rude to pass at £4.5k!

Ive cautious of course to buy something needing too much work, but I don't think my budget of up to £24k is unrealistic, based on what I have seen on the market since March. Worst case, I can always wait a year and save some more cash.

and remember well 'there is no such thing as a cheap Maserati'. very easy to spend 10k putting right. Good luck with your search but tread carefully!

Couldn’t believe it when I looked buddy. Currently 7 GT-S on AT between 18k and 22k. Another 5 if you go up to 25k. When did the drop that low ?

Although best value at the moment under 30k looks like Dicky’s 2011 with 35k on the clock at £28950 and you get piece of mind.

Good Luck with your search.
Thanks for sharing the 4.5 K GT and I loved reading the Ebay advert with its new clutch in a 4.2 Auto.
Did it really sell for 13 K ???
You can get a cheap Maserati I've done it twice but you do have to be careful.
My preference would be one with mechanical issues to repair rather than one with accident history.
Again Good Luck.

I hadn’t realised that Andy - I’ll eat my words in that case.

Maybe the Bordeaux Pontevecchio one wrapped in matt grey once owned by a friendly cutlery merchant is still available somewhere ;) …seems to fit the OP’s description pretty closely or did that have a black interior? I can’t remember the details (wrong answers only)

Hi Andy, yeah gorgeous that one. True be told the yellow one for a bit more has me totally besotted. Worst case I will just have to keep saving up. Indeed there is quite a spread of cars around, there is even a 4.7 auto on ebay for a hair under £16k, but as so many have pointed out I dont want to buy a headache. Especially if i'm already a bit strapped for cash in the first place! I will see what happens. The idea of this thread was just to see if there were any cars in line with what I am looking for, but just not advertised. I always prefer an enthusiast owned car, im one myself. Worst case I keep saving, and just have to wait longer.

Good advice, thanks I will take heed. Better to learn from someone else...and I better watch out for the clutches in the Autos, LOL, i know just a 5% compared to everyone here, and that made me chuckle. It sold really quick that one, within 24 hours on ebay. I was a little surprised, there have been a couple of 4.2's sell in the 13 - 14k bracket over the last 2 months or so, but neither were categorised or with tonnes of dash lights, I guess that rocking horse poo auto clutch and the stradale wings hooked a buyer quick.

Agree on the yellow one Strictly. If you can save some more then Dickly is where you need to go as he has the best cars for sale and in this market you want piece of mind as it is a mine field and buying the wrong car could end you love affair with these cars but get the right car and you will not stop smiling.
