Does this mean any coupe that have a cracked WB could be scrap????

I would have thought that would mean any vehicle with these wishbones could potentially be no longer supported if no parts are available. Surely that would have to be corrected. I doubt any niche make could recover from potentially losing all of its 2nd hand market, ie - every other spare they have for these cars on shelves is also worthless eventually.

I don't know exactly what it means.
This is the reply I got:

"The items you requested are no more in production, however I am at your
complete disposal for any further information you may need."

I tried to follow up but got no reply.
Bear in mind this is a sales person and I'm sure if Maserati asks for a new run to be made, they will oblige.

That's is precisely why some people argue that this subject needs to be brought to public attention.
Maserati only fears lost sales and doesn't give a **** at customers of old vehicles.
Only the fear of lost sales in the future due to the current practices being publicly known will make them change course.

At the risk of depreciating our cars by going public with this, the alternative is far worse.
We can end up with cars off the road and worthless due to the lack of critical components.
Last week someone on this forum needed a power steering radiator for a 4200 and was greeted with an 800gbp price for what is essentially 50 pounds worth of metal pipe.

Assuming that is correct, the impact won't just be on cars with cracked wishbones. A worn ball joint could render a car useless too, even the later Gransports. I've not heard anything about the availability of the upper rear that I ordered for mine a couple of weeks ago, so I'm assuming it's ok until I hear otherwise.

Is it correct there are no Australian or US instances of the failure,
Is it just Europe?
Why?

Personally suspect its the bush sleeve that corrodes, expands, and splits the wishbone.
Hence cars used throughout the winter, with higher mileages, are effected the most.
Australia is dryer and milder, US the same many states and probably in the wetter states the cars are not used in winter.
My theory anyway.

Makes for a sound argument Mike, otherwise it would no doubt be metal fatigue or shock force which would more likely affect all cars in all areas.

Wonder how long the "copyright/licence" for the design of the components. OCAP could be asked for a production run by us, if no limitation. Probably a legal minefield, but just looking at the problem sideways. Otherwise, I think we are down manufacturing and certifying our own components. Given the number of vintage cars pieced together by specialists fabricating replacement components, not an untrodden path.

I think we will end up becoming the true 'keepers of the flame' by working around the manufacturer and becoming totally self-sufficient.

Is it possible to remove the bush, refurb, clean , lube and re- install. Do admit I have not looked into the design etc. looks like I better buy some ramps so I can perodically check the arms.

Thank you spkennyuk, delivery Monday!!

I should have traded that information for those GS seats ;) lol

I think Maserati should start sending them out free of charge to 3200/4200 and GS owners. It's the least they could do pending an outcome on the issue.
