Well Finally Gone for It

Hi All
I have been lurking on the forum gathering as much information as I could before I took the plunge of buying a 4200 CC. Well I took possession the other day of a 03 model, and so far I love every minute of it. Had a nice drive back home (best part of 350 miles) to get used to her, and am surprised just how much poky and nimbler she feels compared to my previous car (a Jag XKR) despite the stats on paper looking more or less the same. And to top it off it has the WAF in that I can get a seat for my 3 year old, and a second seat for my 6 week old in the back, so sort of a family motor  (well providing no luggage). Well the car i have bought is not perfect, there are a few niggles, but I’m sure they will all be ironed out very soon (air con being re-gassed tomorrow). It was a Cat D, and subject to some discussion in the forum. I went in to it with my eyes open, and once i had been through all the documentation, spoken to the previous 2 owners, had the inspection etc was a lot more comfortable with the car. I guess time will tell if it was a good or bad descision so fingers crossed.

Already ordered the DBW and set of Larini back boxes to help with the sound which is the only thing slightly lacking compared to my XK.

Steve

Hi Steve and a warm welcome to the forum. It's really good to hear that you've found the information on the forum informative during your research and purchase, and that you've taken the plunge both to buy your car and to share your experiences with us. Hope to hear more as you get to know your 4200. Cheers, Miles.

Hi steve , Glad to have another Owner that has done the home work bought himself a bargain , its a testament to how easily these cars get written off , but can sustain so little damage in the process,i too have 2 Massers both were cat D and both re-instated to former glory , look forward to your input and experience s, oh and if you can make the trackday that would be an ideal place to get to learn its capabilities

regards loz

Hi Steve, welcome on board. As a fellow new Maserati owner I hope you find this forum as useful as me. From your avatar it looks like you've gone for the best interior/exterior colour combo (same as mine)!

Welcome to the forum Steve, you must be feeling like a kid with a new toy!

Great to hear that you sought advice, did your homework and had the all-important inspection before parting with your cash - many don't and live to regret it!. You'll find this place a mine of information and the members a friendly bunch who will assist you in all things Maserati (and everything else!)

Hi Andy, sounds like it could be a fun day out, and good value. never done a track day before but would be a great way to get to know what the car can do. Just need to get it past the other half :)

Had a Friday / blonde moment today, got the air con re-gassed, all seemed OK. went out later and car was very hot inside, no cool air. Turns out i should have read the manual, there was me thinking ECON was for switching the air con on, not off. That will teach me. Sat here now reading cover to cover.

Got me too Steve and I ain't been blonde since all me hair fell out 20 odd years ago. D@mn those Italians, they make the best cars in the world, but they don't half speak another language.:saifi4:

Ah yes, the murky underworld that is voice command. That novelty soon wore off for me. Now I just let the engine do the talking.

talking of voice commands, how do you get any other choice apart from phone commands ? I have tried all manor of words, many not too complementary, but cannot get it to say select cd or radio. Am i missing something ?
