What are you watching?

Thought I'd kick this one off. Basically, what have you seen on the TV or film that you think is pretty decent and worth recommending.

TV wise, I'm on Hannibal (season 3) and The Strain (season 2). Hannibal is immense, dark and twisted and how Hannibal should have been in the Hollywood films, not the soft lad portrayed by Hopkins. The Strain is fairly decent.

Film wise, I watched Southpaw last night. It's nothing new (story line wise) but Gyllenhaal is really very good and I'm going to watch it again, it was that good (for me, anyway).

The Strain is OK. I'm just starting season 2. What I do want to watch is True Detective 1, but I really just don't get that much time.

Plus I find myself thinking things like: The Strain: NYC would no be functioning after one night of the infestation. Beyond that they 'vampire proofing' is not worth ****. Yes I know I'm not good at willing suspension of disbelief.

Movie wise, I caught a few on the flights recently:

Chappie and Terminator: Genesis have been deferred to watch with Mrs Catman. IN the case of Terminator I suspect a marathon of the other movies would be interesting before embarking on the latest one. Chappie just looked like it could shape into something good, so I'd rather watch with her than alone, on a flight.
In other news: Mad Max: Fury Road was rubbish. The original has dated really badly as well.

I just need to find one. Of course, a wet rainy day is not unusual. One when I don't have anything planned, though....

Got bored of the strain once the Zombie things started...Not a Zombie fan....Hannibal was good...did first series and started the 2nd then missed a few so never caught up. Love Gothan which hope will be coming back soon and at the moment the Odyssee is good but coming to an end tonight. ....Funny, on True Detective ...everyone seems to love this but I gave up on the first one as couldn't understand a fecking word they were saying and it just bored me....Not a great deal on at the moment worth watching..

I've given up on Hannibal - loved season 1 & a bit of 2 but don't care for 3. Cant be doing with any reality or competition based TV so it's back to the old faithful Sopranos, The Wire & Breaking Bad. I did like The Hour on BBC and Utopia on C4 a couple of years ago though

Thats what we thought about Hannibal......It was like it needed to conclude after two series....

I'm surprised about the Hannibal comments. I genuinely think it's well made, well acted and gives an insight into Hannibal pre-Man Hunter. The good news for all you haters is that season 3 is the last one.

I don't get much TV time but always make time for the food related shows. Big fan of Rick Stein but not really enjoying his latest adventure.

Snap...I tried, got out voted and failed! Ended up editing a solicitor agreement instead.

Don't watch much TV but have it on a fair bit as background noise when working on the laptop.

Anything car related is often a given.

Bake off & Strictly - you can tell who wears the trousers!

DOn't have to endure Bake Off but Strictly is a must with Mrs Z at least she doesn't do X Factor, BGT or I was famous get me out of here rubbish.

Enjoying Odyssey but the last really good thing I watched was Wolf Hall. I see Dr Who is coming back which will probably watch although not really getting on with Capaldi and we have a Sherlock Christmas Special bizarrely set in Victorian times to come.

Just saw Ex Machina recently.

Stupendous.

Addresses AI, humanity and asks deep philosophical questions about the nature of life.

A slow burn with lots of great dialogue and some impressive performances.

Can't recommend it highly enough if you like the sci-fi genre with a cerebral twist.

Gifted scientist dancing with one of his robots.

I thought terminator: Genesis was awful. The acting was so bad.

Was a really disappointing movie for me.

Can I recommend Whiplash. Thought it was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. So intense and captivating.

And it is just focused on drumming! 5 out of 5 for me.

Agreed, a really good film. Strong performances throughout and a glimpse into the not too distant future? It's one I'll watch again.

John Wick was a good watch, for anyone who likes a violent thriller. Usually, Keanu Reeves is a bit too much of a dummy for me but this suits the character! Highly recommended.
