Hi,
I hear that the 3200s were improved in 2001; OBD2, better build quality etc, but I want to know when in 2001 and if possible, after which chassis numbers.

Can anyone shed light on this please?

no idea re the chassis number but after 10-15 years I would expect any build quality issues from any year a 3200 was made to be fixed by now....... obd pretty easy to check for since it is under the carpet to the right of the driver foot well.

The man's right. These cars are so old now that you buy on condition rather than age/mileage.

But the later cars did have improvements to steering and turbo housing apparently.

There were changes to the cooling system which can be told under the bonnet. The OBD changes were another one and early cars had a black clock too and different binnacle. Like a couple of people have alluded to, condition rather than model year is far more important nowadays.

I'm not sure it makes any differance whether the car is 1998 or late 2001, like Dicky says the condition is the most important thing.

These old Massers are creeping up in price and nice low miles examples will always command top doller!

OK thanks guys, I'll stop obsessing over it now!

As an aside, did any 3200s come with Xenon headlights?
My 2002 156 gta has them, but they were pretty rare back then.

From memory when I was looking at 3200's, changes were made in the factory on late 2000's onwards, so a 2001 / 2002 registered car would probably have the improvements, Those were to the accelerate by wire system, brakes and steering, they were supposed to make the cars a bit easier to live with..!! The AC went a bit further with other improvements also..!! I don't think Xenons were ever fitted, not even to the AC, I think you can retro fit, although I put high intensity lamps in ours and they worked quite well..!!

Just start by looking for any Assetto Corsa ;D , then the best looked after car you can find. If any of these match the colour or specification you prefer, buy it.

The AC only came in 3 basic colours, but you could maybe get a special, there were one or two out there..!!

Most of the specials will be LHD, not sure if there are any of the UK 75 in custom colours.
