What to replace when having the timing chains done?

Hi Chaps,

I'm having my timing chain replaced in due course and have a small list of other things that I want dealt with. Are there any particular sensors that tend to fail?
My question is what else should I replace while the engine is out?

Other things that will be getting done:
All associated sleeves, guides and toothed bits that control the timing chain
Water pump
Timing belts
Timing reset (been told that they set them up incorrectly at the factory)
Coolant pipes (including those under the inlet)

Still haven't sorted the gear grinding so will be making sure that is dealt with too.

Anything else?

Timing chain? I don't think there is one on a 4200. I might be wrong but I think those things were left behind with the obselete 3200.

I would plan on changing the hoses around the turbos, the oil water and air hoses, as the only way to get into these is either engine removal or subframe removal! The air hoses are prone to cracking and perishing because of the heat. I would have a look at the brake lines running across the bulkhead not prone to corrosion but if they did they would be difficult to get into! I just replaced my turbos and went the sub frame route, and I had all the turbo hoses replaced. While the engine is out you could do worse than doing the timing belt and tensioner pulleys as this will be easy. How many miles has the engine done? The water pumps are known for problems after 50-60k miles.

Thanks for the advice all of what you said has been added to the list.
Do you have any part numbers to hand? What was the cost of replacing the hoses?
I was also looking into replacing the knock sensors too. Mileage currently stands at 75,000 - I know the water pump will need replacing at some stage so may as well get it changed, I just cannot believe that prices jumped from £180 a few years ago to over £600.

Take the plate off the underside of the plenum and loctite the screws back in. Replace the water manifold hoses in the V of the block and all the clips. Radiator, if its not leaking have the upper and lower flanges reinforced. Check the turbo valves for bent rods and lube them.

Endfloat checked.

Good luck!

And check the valve/cam timing is correct as per the manual, not just refitting things as you found them...lots of these engines for some reason have incorrect valve/belt timing from new
This makes a huge difference to the performance of the engine, and I mean HUGE....!!
