Who went from Gransport to Granturismo?

After owning the Gransport for a few years now, i start thinking about the time(car) after........ the Gransport.
As much as i love our marque, the current cars presented by Maserati are not on my wishlist, while a real successor of the Gransport is not presented by Maserati till now.
Unless you concider the Granturismo as an alternative.
Still a very beautifull car, but large and heavy, a bit less symphathatic and more agressive in its appearance.

Now i am wondering; who went from GS to GT and is willing to tell about his experiences in an objective way?
Thanks in advance!

Saying that...If its a GT you are looking at and not the S version the GT is a totally different car from your GS. Not as quick, will feel a bit wobbly as its a big car and more of a cruiser than the GS....But it does have those looks to die for.......

I think Andy has summed it up.

I decided to skip a generation as I felt the GT was a bit too big and heavy for my liking; not quite a like-for-like replacement. I was also a bit narked back in the day that this 'new coupe' was actually being built on the old QP platform.

different ball game
the GS ive heard from people that owned both is by far more of a sports car than the GTS....
the GT is not a sports car.....a good cruiser id say describes it best

Hi Dem, not selling yet ;)
Just thinking about a future replacement.
Still not sure about the GT.

What do you guys think of an AM V8?
I am wondering if that car would be an improvement on any aspect.

A friend of mine wanted an Aston before his 50th so 4 years or so ago he bought a nearly new ex demo Vantage with quite a few of the toys. IIRC, he paid over £50k. He loved washing it and looking at it in the garage but hated driving it. He said it was slow, wallowy and very claustrophobic inside due to the narrow side windows, much like driving a tank. He sold it after 6 months and took a £10+ hit. He came into it from a Porsche Boxster S and went back to one. He has since got a Carrera 4 GTS cab because he loves Porsche but is now looking to trade it for an F type V8S. FWIW, I've never had problems keeping up with and passing V8 Vantages in my spyder and even the DBS doesn't open up much of a gap. I wouldn't have one.

A friend of mine bought a new AM V8 some years ago for about (from memory) 80 or 90k. Looked and sounded good, but not that great to drive. A few years later he sold it for half that, put about £10k back in the bank and spent just £30k on a second hand GS. He said the GS was faster and nicer to drive, and much preferred it. And he'd not had a Maser before, so this wasn't said from blind brand loyalty.

See now I've driven a few AM V8's and loved everyone of them.....Loved the interiors and the way they make you feel when in them....Found the drive was good. Could have done with a bit more power on the early ones but that was put right with the 4.7. Lovely car.

Horses for courses Andy. Astons and Porsches leave me cold but there are lots about, so lots of people must like them. Maybe badge allure or the James Bond connection but neither is enough to make me want one.

Could be Ian.....Life would be boring if we all liked the same....

Suppose the only way to find out if its the right car is get out a drive a few...You may like you may not...

Last years Le Mans Taxi was an Aston, an older DB7 Vantage - a big old bruiser with a stonking V12 soundtrack but not a patch on the fun that can be had in either the SZ or, from my limited time to date, the Spyder. Horses for course my mate loves his AM wouldn't think of swapping but then again he hasn't been out on the Spyder yet.

Yes I did, to a GTS and loved the thing to bits if I am honest.

It just oozzesss presence and the exhaust and power is spot on.

Round Llandow, no GS got near me, honest. For a large car its very capable.

Ok, it has lost some feel but the suspension is in no way soft, go try one!

Fair point about the QP platform. GranTurismo was three years after the QP so 2016 for new Coupe?

I went from a manual facelift 4200 to a GranTurismo GTS Auto so some similarities.

The three things I have noticed are:
-far better traction;
-much improved steering; and
-a real difference in suspension settings between sport and normal - they can be hussled in sport pretty well. I know that you boys with the GS/CC mainly use the sport button to speed up the gearshift but the sport button did nothing material to firm up the handling IMHO (on a 4200).

The car is a lot more grown up and does feel modern whereas the 4200 always felt old, a bit like a 3200 facelift. The only thing to watch with the GranTurismo is the width of the car on narrow roads but the mirrors do fold in at any speed which is useful.
