Why are my wheel arches carpeted?

Noise, stops stones etc making a clattering sound. Also makes the mice feel snuggly when they make a nest ;)

PS someone will be along soon to discuss the relative hotness of the Shake n Vac lady.

My early 4200s (MY2004) had rigid liners but the latter oners are like you say covered in a 'cheep' carpet style liner.

What I can say is that the sound of spray when driving in rain is significantly louder in the early car.

Grass is the worst offender for being bloody hard to wash off those fabric liners. At least the pressure-washer gets cats and mice off ok, but the grass just stays stuck.

Seriously though why not have some shaaagpile in the wheel arches? Plastic - well that is for more affordable cars one presumes....I wonder what what the new range has under its arches?

Had carpeted wheel arches on my old Alfa GT. I once got stuck behind a tractor spewing effluent all over the road which I had no choice but to drive thru and the stench was awful for days afterwards. When I cleaned the car, the neighbours thought the drains were blocked!
