Wiper woe (Ghibli II)

Hello all, I have a slightly argumentative window wiper (see thus). Is this a common problem with the Ghibli II and thus involve parts made from Frankincense and Myhhr, or just something ‘normal’?
In the manner of my wife’s wildest dreams, it goes up but refuses to go down.

I have no idea about Ghibli 2 but it’s a pretty common thing in general. Chances are the ball joint on the wiper link is worn and has popped out.

Looking at this left hand drive one on eBay, it’s super simple. Just a straight rod. Worst case scenario is you make a new rod yourself using a turnbuckle and some rose joints and bolt them to the arm.

I'm not the most technical person – I wouldn't know where to start. The Facebook group suggests the contacts might be corroded – where might I find those to clean those up?

By contacts I assume they mean the electrical connections. You can see the connector to the motor in the photo. Can’t be that though as there is only one motor that operates both wipers. They may mean something else though, is it a translation?

You should be able to see if the rod has come off by looking under the spoiler thing.

You can get these metal clips to try and hold the joint together but I don’t think they’re very successful. They’re pretty cheap

Got to be a mechanical issue that. It should be fairly obvious when you can see the linkage, and probably reasonably easy to fix.

or could it be that the splines on the right hand side wiper are worn and it has managed to "slip" ?

Ie where the actual arm connects to the bit sticking out of the scuttle

I tightened the bolt and that appeared to work though I doubt it’s a long term fix.
I love the styling feature of the windscreen spoiler but it is a pain when you’ve got hands entirely made of cack.

Bigger issue is the the left side of the bonnet popping up ‘at a certain speed’ or coming over the crest of a motorway hill…

One side is easy to get at, the other side i had to stand facing the front of the car and try and feed my hand backwards to find the nut !!

There is a degree of adjustment on the rubber buffers for the bonnet, but you dont want to adjust them too much as that bring the bonnet closer to the headlight glass !

McGrath put on some of extended rubbers (ahem) and it’s going back for the above work so it’s just adjustment.
To be honest it’s my fault for going A Certain Speed or more. But I met a Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale on the way to Bicester and, er, things happened
