to my eternal shame, my first car was a hand me down mustard coloured marina................i'll get my coat. ;)
I had four of them, a purple 1.3 coupe, a blue 1.3 saloon, a blue 1.8 saloon and a white 1.8 saloon.
They served their purpose but I remember with no warning the trunnions would seize up and turning the steering wheel became hard work. Use to unscrew them and fill with grease.
Always fancied a Marina pick-up.

My dad was given a Morris Ital courtesy car after he unintentionally attempted to remove his SD1's driver's door by reversing it at high speed against our gate post. I remember thinking the Ital was quite exotic given it's Italian sounding name! To be fair, I was very young and had lived a fairly sheltered life to that point.

BL did ask for it sometimes ‘Ital’ as if they were some sports saloon.lol
To be fair like most cars of that era they were all prone to need fixing on a regular basis and it was much easier to do that on something that was cheap and British. It’s like now I’ve noticed that when cars get old and get in the runabout stage a Ford Fiesta will probably be more expensive to buy than a similar age BMW or VW due to simplicity and cheapness to fix it.

My uncles Kia people carrier (No idea nor interest in what the model is)

He changes gear at 1,100 rpm ”to save on fuel” and the shíte it kicks out is hard to believe, like a bond film, rear of the front seats is like a giant dumping area.

He’s worth I’d guess £10M with assets ect and he drives this 20 year old piece o’ shizen refuses to turn the heat on at home and shops at Asda at 10 o’clock in the evening to raid the reduced section.
So I am halfway to being a multimillionaire then.

I learned to drive in an Avenger from the 'Avenger School of Driving' in Wiltshire. On the morning of my driving test the instructor turned up in his shiny new Nissan, a car I'd not even seen before; passed though, and always fancied a Tiger:

I know someone who has two very nice one but won’t sell, when trying to locate one myself I came across a Sunbeam Tiger and bought that instead

I passed my test in a Maestro, my dad having sold his Fiat Strada for it. He then got a Nissan Sunny in post box red which was incredibly plasticky and tinny. The worst car I ever had was an early 90s Vauxhall Astra as a company car. It's only redeeming feature was a decent stereo.

For a mercifully very short period of time my Dad had one of these. I can’t remember going in it, but I must have done so at some point - hiding my face in case anyone from school saw me in it…76152050-2ACC-495C-8AEA-4E57371756BB.jpeg

That looks quite stylish in comparison too. Dad went from a Targa green Wood & Puckett Mini 1275GT with clarion separates to that abomination. Gutted.

That is a big swing in the style/cool look.
That feels like a new thread: biggest car style/look swings. My mum had a good run in the 80s, exchanging a gold Metro for a considerably more exciting X1/9, followed by a dull-as-dishwater plastic white Peugeot 309 XL, which was traded for a bright red Escort RS Turbo!

In high school, I upgraded from the cop car to a 1972 Chevy Monte Carlo. A buddy got a 1970 Chevelle, and then later a 73 Camaro. The above was his dad's car, which we would use to fetch parts while working on our cars at his house on the weekend. Once, we got stopped by a cop and cited for speeding, like 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. His dad went to traffic court with my friend to fight the ticket. When they were called, he showed a picture of the car to the magistrate, who promptly dismissed the charges.

This gem belonged to an ex-girlfriend's mom...really hard to fool around inside that thing.

When I was a teenager in the late 60's/early70's, this - it's similar to my Mum's car but much shinier and her's was all black (and called Black or Blackie)

- but I'd probably think differently now. - Coincidentally its reg was UMG and my Mum's was YMG

My dad had a Fiat Tipo and it was dreadful to drive. A Rover Metro was another hateful car he had, that was awful too, think the Tipo was worse.
It did n't go round corners! I borrowed it one night and turned the wheel to go round the Chillworth roundabout at a leisurely 20 mph. It was n't having that, it just ploughed straight on. It was in deed the most hateful piece of cr4p I have ever driven.
