Riding with a friend in a light drizzle...he went to make a right turn, and due to the weight bias the car decided it wouldn't. Straight ahead, through a red light, and into an intersection. Still not sure how we survived that.
I so wanted a pontiac fiero in the 80s, first trip to the states was in 1988, gutted they hadn't got one on the hire Fleet

Obviously I now realise renting LHD cars to brits when they don't go round corners would probably mean 1 rental per write off

When you see a photo of a street scene in a town from the 70s the majority of cars were pretty dire compared to modern cars.
My mk2 Escort drove nice but as soon as there was damp in the air it would misfire, take the distributor cap off, give it a wipe with a dry cloth and off we go again firing on all 4.

I wrote off my Gitane Champion moped hitting one of those head-on, St Andrews St in Bury St Edmunds in the late 70s.
My brothers mate Andrew Perret did smilar , many moons ago they used to diagonal park on Worthing seafront , stupidly on his way home from a celebration night out after passing his finals to become a vet he crashed his Gitane into one of those diagonally parked cars, fatal such a waste and sad loss...........no compulsory helmet laws in at that time

My abarth attracts attention whenever it's parked, only because it's bright red in a sea of black, white and grey cars

Look at any 70s car park picture and you'll see a rainbow of colours, what happened!

Wasn't that a cool moped? I always wanted a Testi Champion with the full 7.5bhp but like most 16 year olds settled for a derestricted FS1E

I think that was the Veloce model. I think now the FS1E is the one that everyone wants over the Italian options. After I wrote that off, as I was only 4 months into my 16th year I bought a Fantic Chopper off a pub landlord for £150, front wheel arrives at the pub 5 minutes before the rest of the bike. lol Stilll got my Gitane handbook with the Veloce on the front.

Your new car looks great.

A mate had one while everyone else had Fizzers or AP50s that would do 50mph

The TY, 30-35mph , it was painfully slow , so slow that whenever we went anywhere we'd have to stop every 15 minutes or so to let him catch up

This one time at a country pub in the middle of nowhere he didn't catch up so I went to look for him, he was sat at the side of the road, bike in the ditch , I helped him pull it out then asked what had happened , he'd been riding along with his 1w headlight because the engine couldn't run and work the lights , a low branch had touched his face which scared him enough to fall off.

Same setup as a FS-1e just had fewer teeth on the front sprocket, easy enough to resolve but meant it couldn't pull a wheelie!

Couldn't do much with the headlight though :(

Fortunately i was old school and didnt have to go the moped route , had a BSA 250 C15 from age of 15 , had it legal on the road from my 16th birthday , what a feeling had my bike test just 3 days later and got that sought after pink slip , a week later got my dream bike , T120 pre unit bonny , those were good days

I managed the 50cc at 16 (legally) but naturally had a pre-restricted one, up to 250cc at 17 until passed ones test then unlimited :D. Jeanette who is just a year younger than me left it until she was 17/18 and got the early 'part 1 test' riding around cones and was limited to a 125cc. Now it is far more restrictive with A, A1 & A2 all requiring a pre-road test around the cones and a theory at each stage I believe!
