Hi Guys,
Just a quickie. I have a 4200 (2005) with standard lights. Is it possible to obtain and fit the Xenon upgrade for this car? If so who, where and how much. Many thanks J

The units are costly. I *think* the wiring is in place, and you'd need the self levelling sensors as well, to do it properly

Indeed, it is a costly option to retro fit.
I have found with other cars I have that don't have xenons, a decent bulb upgrade like Osram night breakers for example, make a big difference. Bulb technology has come a long way in 10 years and if your existing bulbs are old, they will have lost a lot of their luminance

I installed Phillips xenon lights within the stock headlamp housing. Cost was about £300 inc fitted - takes about an hour. The only issue I have is that light warning light on the dash comes on when I hit the brakes. Can be solved with a resistor but haven't got round to it. Hopefully it will pass the MOT (i.e. they wont notice the lack of jet washers etc) but if it doesn't I will swap them back over,

Historically the problem with aftermarket or retrofit xenons is that they do not pass the light scatter test at the MOT station, how are the Philips with that?

I recommend the Osram night breakers, they are cheaper than the Philips equivalent and just as good (if not better imo).

Another tip to consider to perform a lens restoration on your headlights, I used the Meguiars kit by hand and got really good results, the UV coating is lab tested to last 1+ year, needless to say it improves the performance of your headlights massively as mine were useless with all of that haze on the lens.

http://www.meguiars.co.uk/shop/two-step-headlight-restoration-kit you can probably get it cheaper off Amazon or off the shelf at Halfords, they are doing the 3 for 2 offer at the moment.

This is what mine looked like with just the n/s headlight done

Projector style should be ok with retro fitted units re scatter. It's the reflector type that scatter as the light is generated in a different place to standard bulbs.ie further forward in the light unit.

Retrofitting Xenon light is no good as you have to fit washer jets and a new bumper too or it will fail the MOT.

Go the bulb route as recommended above.

Osram cool blue intense have a nice really "white" colour... Though as previously said latest version on nightbreaker give out more light and are longer life too....
