Yellow Stuff or Ferrodo?

Hi

Just ready for fitting my new discs from the 1st group buy

Which pads have most of you gone for I don't do many miles in the car & can't decide if it's worth the extra money for the Yellow Stuff

I've got Ferrodo's in at the moment but they have always seemed a bit poor & have scoured the discs quite badly.

Thanks Lee

New type yellow stuff are superb but are also a very dusty option, they cope with aggressive road (alpine passes) and track without fade and do not need 'warming up' to work on slow road. Mintex at Bruntingthorpe were smoking after just a couple of laps, Ferrodo & Mintex pads I have sitting on my bench unused (one set are front and the others are backs) if you or anyone wants them make an offer, I stuck with yellow stuff...

New Yellow stuff in the Spyder and they are really good, work from cold and can take lots of heat without fade. I use Ferrodo 2500s in the SZ & Q4 which are also excellent but more than twice the price of Yellow stuff.

Just done Yellowstuff on mine, not driven them hard yet but seem to have good stopping power so far. I believe the reputation means that you'll be cleaning your wheels a lot.

I'm going to try a set of reds when I need a change, which is soon, as I have ferodo and not that keen when cold..!!

I had reds on my old Cerbera, stopping power was superb when warm, they juddered slightly when cold, but nothing major.

I've just ordered some yellows so will be fitting them this weekend to bed-in before the new SM discs turn up next week. I will comment on the difference compared to the std pads next week.

SM discs and yellowstuff all round on my GS. I like the pedal feel with the yellow pads and the hotter they get the better you stop, very hard to get any brake fade with them.

??? Why, the new pads have a 'cutting' material on them to bed them quickly, if your old disks are rippled and ridged you will loose the flat face of the new pads; surely you save them for the new disks?

This. Yellowstuff are not cheap. I'd save them for the new discs - the discs have a machines finish to the faces that will also help with bedding in.

That should save you an hour or two this weekend!

The best pads you can get are Ferrodo 2500 and 3000's.

I run red stuff on my 3200 but yellow stuff are better all round.

Anyone did a comparison on where to source the yellow stuff pads for a competitive price?

Fangio used Ferodo
That's good enough for me

They also advertised on Albert Bridge in Middlesbrough (a railway bridge over a road that used to trap double decker buses frequently because the height used to change and the weight of the bus altered too). It became known as Ferodo bridge so iconic was the name

Er Nothing to do with the question though!

Bought mine from a supplier on eBay - not particularly cheap.

Did first decent bit of hard-ish driving with them and the forum discs today and they feel great, stop really hard and positively.

I have Mintex in mine and for fast road application are superb! I have heard that they are not track pads and the Yellowstuff is what you need for this.

Only use new pads with new discs otherwise you will transfer over the wear pattern from the old discs onto your news.

If your not tracking the car, Mintex will do you just fine.

I do not track my car so will be sticking with Mintex.

Or you can take the discs to the machine shop for skimming. That is what I did when I put my second set of EBC yellow in the front 2 weeks ago. The first set of pads lasted about 20000 km (rears are still good), my standard use is agressive driving thus braking, high speed braking, and a few sessions around race tracks (maybe 3/4). These pads are good but I definitely think they will work better on new or skimmed discs (which I didn't do last time). I am actually hoping more efficient braking with clean discs. I still did not finish to bed them in so I'll be testing soon.
