One of my customers called me out today as had a burst pipe, and no heating in his office, which is in an old barn, it is also his garage, what a surprise greeted me , 3litre Bentley he bought in 1980 when he left the army, Aston 2/4 owned for 20 years, Westfield with a 950cc bike engine (his sons) not driven for 5 years, Porsche carrera, ( his daughter in laws) a real family of petrolheads, took great delight in showing me, when he left the army he organised race meetings around the world for the historic grand prix cars association, sad thing is he has a condition which affects his legs and has had his driving licence taken away, so will never be able to drive them again. Oh and in an attempt to economise he had turned the heating off to his garage /office block, I repaired 7 bursts! was there for 4 hrs.

What a waste, he should get them sold before they become part of his estate and the taxman wants his %.

20 minutes to fix the pipes, and 3 hours and 40 minutes to gawk and talk cars, I'd wager...!

HaHa, not at all actually, had to keep filling the system to find the different leaks, repair what was found, fill again and so on, thought I had done them all but still losing pressure, heard hissing behind a giant built in bookcase that took up the complete end wall, yes they had built it over the pipework and it was about 6' tall and 3' deep, so had to cut an access panel in the back right at the top and could just about squeeze my head an shoulders between the shelf and top of cupboard to repair the leak, I'm definitely getting too old for this game!

Better you than me, James! I will do that kind of thing for myself...but not for hire anymore. Too old is right!

At 60 I thought exactly the same over the last 3 weeks doing some conversions for Toyota but came back home a few kilos lighter so it was good exercise for me.

No doubt. And it's not that I dislike manual labor...lawd knows it's a constant here...but crawling around, under, and on someone else's home is just not my idea of a good time anymore...! Well...maybe if the money is right...
