Taking advantage of this sunny weather, a few jobs have been completed on the race car recently -
. Aux 12v power socket fitted
. Dead key for extra security - the car doesn't have any door locks and can just be fired up with a toggle switch & push button starter
. Reverse lights now fitted - the car has standard GT light clusters on the boot which still had bulb holders & bulbs present! There is a redundant toggle switch on the console which now connects to these lights so whilst you need to remember to operate the switch when reversing, it was a whole lot easier than getting to the switch on the gearbox
. Steering wheel hook fitted to rollcage. You need to remove the wheel to get in & out of the car and there never seems to be a convenient place to rest the steering wheel as the cable linking the wheel controls to the main dashboard is quite short
. New wide angle convex rear view mirror fitted, now my rear view is filled with even more rollcage when I'm trying to reverse!
. Decal set chosen & ordered. Hopefully this will be manufactured & ready to fit next month which will transform the look of the car
The next job will be to work on trying to make it less leaky. I have some neoprene waterproof strip from Demon Tweaks to fit under the windows and have sourced some caps to use as blankers for the drilled ventilation holes in the rear screen. Hopefully the end caps for using at the bottom of tubular chair & table legs will do the trick!
I have a sticking handbrake which needs to be attended to as well as a suspicious petrol smell from the tank so it could be time to investigate & change the foam filled bladder tank which will be a costly job but it can wait as I can't really drive the car at the moment - it's hardly the vehicle to take out on essential grocery trips!
You can get half domes to cover the holes in the screen.
Just get an alloy tank if you don’t need the bag. I can recommend Concept Racing. https://www.conceptracing.co.uk/
I think it’s unlikely to be the bag itself that’s leaking and more likely unions or the cover plate.
There are also snap vents if the holes are the right size. Open, close and swivel, they clip into the hole

Was someone after the connector type on the clock the other day? Maybe a bit late to look now as the clock & dash are back in - but there should be a part number on the clock loom connector. Would be a useful reference - if still needed? Don't like to criticise either but not liking the look of the hot glue & cable tie strap. Who bodged that together? Hopefully, not a permanent "fix".New clock fitted & dashboard trim reinstated, I do like things to work properly!
That looks amazing Stuart, what a fabulous project.
You may know this already but the MC Trofeo first raced in 2009 in GT4 spec. I know this because we were competing in the FIA European GT4 Championship that year and we raced against one at several of the rounds.

No problem with a quick fix - but in that instance hot glue is not a particularly clever idea.Whatever it takes to get a racing car fixed in double quick time ...
As before, just an observation and not criticism.
Once I receive the clock from @StuartW and identify the connectors used I am going to try a few things to bring it back to full functionality. If successful I will post my findings here.My clock has gone bad too, its working on italian time now, so every minute takes 2 on the clock It is really annoying and you dont realise how ofter you actually look at it untill it goes bad. But when i looked on eurospares and its like 230 pounds for just the clock, I decided I might wait. Should be a good christmas gift
