Sounds gr8 and we're keen to join in too - but would want to drive back from Italy. Also not sure about Stelvio - we did it Trafoi to Bormio and far too busy to be fun - more like a mare (admitedly at wrong time of day)

There must at least three passes within that locale. Lesser known. Every bit as dramatic and better to drive...
I would personally never bother with Stelvio again. its a tourist trap. Cyclists, buses, endless cars. Yawn !

If people are feeling rich, they could stay at this Maserati-friendly hotel in Bellagio near Como...

No idea what the road from Stelvio to Bellagio is like but Bellagio-Como is VERY tight in places.

Lovely hotel and yes, Como to Bellagio road more than tight. Many heart in mouth moments when I did it last year in the Ghibli.

The road back down the other side of the peninsula towards Lecco is much less hairy.

True. And we don't mean a scenic minor roads with challenging corners, we mean twisty narrow streets with huge busses, crappy vans and tiny fiats driven by lunatics.

As this is billed as a greatest hits tour we will probably be sticking to the places we know and trust. The road from Bellagio to Como is very tight as you say, not much fun, the west side is still tight but enjoyable and we will be stopping in Menaggio.

Grand Hotel Menaggio? One of my faves. Lovely spot.

I really liked it too. Stayed there on road trip between Santander and Cuenca. Amazing tapas & beer crawls. Rioja central. Good value, nice atmosphere. In fact love all those inland Spanish towns off the British tourist radar - see also Salamanca, Zaragoza, Cuenca, Cordoba...

Which hotel do you use in Logrono?

There's plenty of vineyard tours and wine tasting in the area (obviously).
Some of the bars are so funny. Literally a door in a wall, with only room for 2 people!

The silliest thing I saw there was the tiny beer glasses you could get. Must be about a mouthful in the smallest.

I liked the mad nature of the tapas bar crawls. Like some only sold one thing. Found one that only sold mushrooms (one type of) and one that only sold chips! Figured the tiny beers were so you could have lots of different tapas, a beer in each bar, and not get totally wasted. Coupled with that innate foreign fear of pints. I did wonder what my mates would have made of it, had I been with them and not the mrs lol

^^. done the stelvio with another grouo - and each car had decent walkie-talkie so were able to make the most of it. Agree there are better mountain passes, but it is a box to tick. Views are still epic. Better driven in a soft top too for visibility in the chicanes. The elevation change around the bends renders every uphill a blind corner.
Interested in the tour - subject to "Ugandan discussions".
