Trouble is what will all these cars be worth in a decade?

Will the electric car come to the fore? If so, will these just be ornaments?

The only real comparison I am making is they are both on a list and have boxes against them that will need ticking at some point.

I have had a V12 Aston before but need to own one again............ it may be “slightly” less temperamental than the strad.

The hunt for a Strad will continue unless I get temped before one comes along.

8-Speed was 2015 but it was not like the 6-Speed was a bad car. The 8 is better in every way except you could argue it almost has too many ratios.

So at £60K you now have a choice of V12 Vantage Manual or Vanquish - the latter was a lot more money to buy and is full carbon-fibre bodyshell etc.

Seen 2014's with Tronic 111. So would that be a 2015 model year then?

It is still a DB9 with lipstick and nowhere close to a Strad for driving pleasure. Nice 2+2 cruiser.

I've driven both and although I love the Stradale the Vanquish feels in a different league for performance, quality... As it should as it was a lot more money. Can't say I though the Stradle was a better car for driver pleasure but then I have not owned either just driven............

Nice to see that the Maser has suffered only half the depreciation of the Aston.

2012 Stradale - £115k. Now £60k.
2012 Vanquish - £230k. Now £60K.

You say that but of course we all know that a Strad with 66,000 miles on it would be worthless :p

Whilst I suspect the actual price paid for the Aston wasn't as close to list as the Strad, a more interesting discussion is around the reasons for the Vanq deteriorating more. I'm going to guess that it's largely to do with rarety. If you're happy with one in silver or black then finding a good Vanquish isn't hard (unless you want a very rare spec like Hashluck has, in which case good luck). Finding any kind of Strad can take a bit longer (especially if you want one with only two seats).

Regardless, an all-carbon, front-engined N/A V12 is a wonderful, wonderful thing and the likes of it will never be seen again.

As Dicky says, anyone who has driven any of these DB9 based cars extensively, they are very pretty but not that great and certainly not £200k worth. That is Ferrari V12 money, not two Ford sixes conjoined.

Hmm hang on chaps - Vanquish vs DB9 is no comparison. Completely different beasts. and an unfair comparison.

DB9 vs Stradale (similar price new) - Stradale all day long

Vanquish vs Stradale - pros and cons to each and there are indeed several Ferraris and Porsches etc that could be considered at the same price points. I chose Vanquish but also have the luxury of an MC-V in the garage or otherwise I would have a Strad as well

Its the same box from the dbs up to 2015, maybe mapped slightly different... don't know if anyone has driven but as auto boxes go it isn't supposed to be terrible...

I think I'd honestly rather the dbs... its more iconic and will only appreciate IMO.

My car attitude is if I'm throwing money at cars I don't mind as long as I get the capital back... The 4200 I kept for 6 years, put 12k on and sold for exactly what I got it for.

Looking at DBS's or 997 turbo's atm

If it’s zero depreciation (actually appreciation), rarity and investment potential as key purchasing decisions, then the gen 1 Vanquish leaves them all behind. Last NP handbuilt car and a Callum masterpiece IMO. Bought mine 2011 and now worth twice what I paid for it, and that’s down on a year ago due to current market. This is the car all the AML emps say they want when asked.

Any idea of the new price of a Granturismo 4.7 S MC in comparison?

Ah but at 60k it's a positive bargain...........That V12 is one of the all time greats No matter if it's in a Vanquish, a Vantage or DBS...........The Stradale is fantastic but for if I had 60kish it wouldn't go on an Italian. Wish I had that choice mind you.
