Strad depreciation v GTS

FYI, my Strad finally went through our workshop and had a full service, new front carbon pads (ouch!) and upper front suspension bushes and a full 'Ashley' alignment.

Whilst we were doing the front bushes, Ashley pointed out that you can use the better rear bush in the front position too. The front bush is the one that tears easily and the rear bush is of a more sturdy type.

The weak front bush has an indicator that lines up, if the arrow do not align, it means the bush inside is torn. Even new, there is loads of wobble in it.

So, I became guinea pig and am running the rear bush in both positions.

The difference is astonishing. The high speed turn in is flat with no nervousness and it drives like a different animal.

I can't tell you if this is the bush mod, the alignment or a combination of both but I am extremely happy with how well it handles.

Obviously, we can't do this mod to customer cars as its non standard unless its specifically instructed and agreed that its a non standard modification.

@conaero So are the bushes in the Strad and MC handling pack the same as the rest of the GT's?
So it's the shocks, springs and ARB are upgraded?

Well l learnt an important lesson this morning—

“you snooze, you lose”

The car I was about to buy this morning, was sold first thing ........ truly gutted.

But the decision is made, I want a Strad so if you know of a 4 seater on the market let me know.

My GTS is also for sale

Bushes, yes, and most of the QP’s too
guess the front upper bush included the arrow and notch to highlight torn bushes. Maybe lessons learned from way back when the 3200 started cracking wishbones at the bush insertion orifice?
Using the rear bush in both locations appears to lose this "protection". Could it work to mark the new rear bushes before fitting using centre punch on both outer and inner metal?

Not a bad shout Rob. I recon you would be lucky to get 10k miles out of that front bush and not align.

Wow cost £230,000 with 40K of extras and now only in the low 60's I bet the 10 services cost 30K.

But the Aston is not a 4 seater (unless you opt for the ugly Rapide). The “+2“ sears in the Vanquish and similar are useless apart from for shopping bags, or possibly children under about 3 years old.

You can’t compare a Vanquish with a 4 seat Strad. You can though, compare it with the 2 seat Strad.

Blimey, surely a Vanquish cannot go lower. High miles will put many off that one though (even though it is not really high miles in an engineering sense)

That's bonkers cheap.

Remember that the rear seats in the Vanquish seem to be best suited for people you don't like, so if you really do need them then a 4-seat Strad or Rapide will provide actual seating.

Wow! Ok, white might not be everyones cup of tea, and the miles are higher than average, but that's astonishing!

Was updated gearbox on the 2013 cars or was that 2014. That made a massive difference to how the car drove. Early cars are less loved than the later ones with touchtronic 111 and prices seem to relent that on 2012 and 2013 cars. Either way they a achingly beautiful and a load of car for 60k.

8-Speed was 2015 but it was not like the 6-Speed was a bad car. The 8 is better in every way except you could argue it almost has too many ratios.

So at £60K you now have a choice of V12 Vantage Manual or Vanquish - the latter was a lot more money to buy and is full carbon-fibre bodyshell etc.
