Have we had the ropey old Jags yet?
S type R- 4.2 Supercharged V8 competitor to the e39 M5- rubbish in period but good ones are getting rarer and they can be picked up for peanuts (£5k)
X350 (aluminium bodied) XJ- last of the ‘traditional’ shaped XJs, again with the supercharged 4.2- the Daimler badged Super V8’s are properly rare and quite nicely kitted out with picnic tables etc. Again they will be fairly close to the bottom of their curve and combine old school looks with a decent slug of V8 power.
Rather more speculative but the XFR-S which is quite rare and has a bit more power than the cooking XFR will probably have a bit more to fall, but I can see them starting to head north a decade from now.

Not a car but was looking at Ducati 1098/1198 this time last year.
Prices already seem to be up by £1k plus on similar models

Amazing how much world-wide interest on such a thing

Nice that I’m sure it’ll sell quickly. Porsches have a huge following if they’re the correct model and A1. Anything less just sticks around.

I think there are always aspirational cars that will always remain colectable and increase in value over time, some like the dream cars never really go down and some like the useable Porsches and Ferraris etc always dip before increasing, has a Ferrari ever stayed cheap forever? The 400s and GT4's are no longer "cheap" although maybe may still be considered reasonable or undervalued. Maserati has always been a slightly odd one and as such I have no doubt that at some point in the distant future the 3200's and later cars that survive will will increase in both value and desirability (later cars may depend on the Maserati markets itself to some degree).

Then there is the cars that seem to jump to a level far greater than their original intended market, the "fast" fords VW's etc, these are affected by aspiration to some degree, nostalgia and motorsport success, with a bit of film or TV influence too. Many of these cars are not only commanding Ferrari/ Porsche type prices but also selling quicker!

I am still not convinced that we will all move to petrol in the future (i have never felt it was or is the whole answer) and with the Likes of Porsche commiting to some sort of future for the ICE i think petrol cars will be around longer than the "current" politics would suggest!

I have never bought things "for investment" and buy what I like or want, which is fortunate as I struggle to let things go or sell, therefore although I am unlikely to benefit from any increase in value of cars etc, the kids may well do.

Agree about the Subaru's although these are already increasing and finding a good one is not easy, given the current climate I wonder if the Tesla's will find a special place in the future, not that they are cheap and suspect early models will prove hard to keep on the road in the future.

not a lot, busted my balls getting the underside and all the running gear restored and now need to find some drive to get the bodywork prepped for a full respray, it's a fully running car now and might take it for an MOT soon

Bodywork is bloody boring.

bloody is boring as you know, but that 240z is bloomin tempting and my ebay finger is already twitching uncontrollably ffs
I had one of those in the early 1980's, it was one of those Samurai conversions with the triple Weber's and different cams
Quick car for the day, just full of rust like most cars at the time

that would be worth a bit now, they seem to have really leapt up in price over the last couple of years including ones with quite a bit of tin worm
