    A/C Compressor - Where From?

The obvious thing to do is to take the car to your local friendly aircon person, ask them to de-gas it, then do the DIY compressor and dryer change, before going beck to get it re-gassed. That's what I did when I last had to change a compressor. The de-gas was free.

    OBD Scan tool?

Yes, the Autel AP200 Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner, typically £55, will read and clear codes and do a few basic things like service resets. You can probably get away with spending less if you just want to read the codes covered by the EOBD standard, as any OBD2 reader will do this.

    Valve rattle on cold startup

Hi, mine was never really an issue, only noticeable after standing unused for more than a couple of days. I replaced the check valve, as detailed in various posts, and there's virtually no rattle in regular use, though there is some if you leave it standing a long time. The rattle is completely...

Help! Engine light coming on and misfire - Southampton

So many possible causes, and so little information! Do a battery reset, then clear the codes; see if it comes back. If it does, swap coils & plugs around, see if it follows the parts. One of the many causes of these codes can be bad fuel according to an expert on the other forum. Fuel is >=5%...

Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT for sale

Correct, and the Sport GT Duo Select with the latest gearbox software changes very smoothly. Avoids the expensive brake discs fitted to the GTS too. Only worry is the cost of changing the clutch, which will probably be due on this car. I had mine done at about 34k miles as the release bearing...

Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT for sale

This is a Duo Select, which has the dry sump engine, so isn't affected by the variator issue that plagued the wet-sump cars with the ZF gearbox up to a particular engine # in 2009.

Is this the first fault on my QPV?

I had a similar noise on a Touran. Turned out to be saw-tooth tyre wear on the inside edge. Try feeling it, and maybe swap the rears if not directional. Or just replace them.

    Electric Mountain Bikes

No worries, just trying to inspire people with what's possible for us non-athletes in our late 50s - others will read this. It's not a time thing, high intensity is the key. It is hard, though. Every time I run it's hard. But it feels great - endorphins... :)

    Electric Mountain Bikes

I understand the time thing, though slightly puzzled that you want an electric bike so that you can extend your 1 hour unassisted rides to 4 hours with a motor and battery, if time's such an issue! I used to cycle a lot, but it takes so much time. I would lose a whole Saturday. I now run twice a...

    Electric Mountain Bikes

Don't be defeatist! Whilst peak performance capability does decline with age, and quite markedly after 70, you'd be amazed at what you're capable of if you work ******* getting fitter - you do have to push yourself frequently to build up the fitness, though. At least once a week, or you lose...

Help! Engine light coming on and misfire - Southampton

Many thanks for your help Matt. Would you believe it I did 320 miles after you reset it, over 2 days, without it missing a single beat! I think it's most likely to be something to do with me "carefully" pressure-washing around the engine bay (scuttle area and bonnet opening edge, never directly...

Help! Engine light coming on and misfire - Southampton

Update: Popped over to Sports Italia and Conaero kindly helped try to figure out what’s going on. After a reboot (battery disconnect) the computers said they’d seen previous misfires on cylinders 1&3. He cleared these and they stayed away after some raucous revs. After about 2.5 hours of driving...
