Again...had we heard of any weaknesses, failures or premature wear stuff....................?

P

Can only speak of my experience P...has been one of the most reliable cars I have owned!
Emma is now showing just over 52K miles on the clock, was around 37k when I bought her in March '09...
she came back from a service at Roberto grimaldi this weekend, and I always ask him to have a good look round...
absolutely nothing to report, no stored codes, nothing needing doing, nada, niente... :D

Roberto did comment that he is seeing more and more of these in not so good a condition though...
younger cars, with lower miles, but not so well looked after...we both concluded that they may be
company cars, just being used and then changed after 2 - 3 years so the owner not caring so much!

Buying on condition and history (especially a well stamped service book) is still paramount,
but I think the point about an independent inspection is still a valid one...
2 - 3 hundred pounds for a bargaining chip, and/or peace of mind is a small price to pay,

Regards,

Enzo.

Excellent...as with nearly everything in life....you get out what you put in, if the car has been well looked after and all documented, it will last longer and be more reliable!

Good to hear you've enjoyed Emma....on so many levels.....;)

I did just under 9000 miles in exactly 1 year between services...not bad going :D
bonus is the clutch wear is now showing as 20%, was 17% one year ago :D :D

Yep...no intention of selling her.
She will do a few less miles next year once Florence is on the road...
hope to do about 5k in each to keep them both happy :D

Again, thanks for all the comments.

An inspection definitely seems on the cards as to be honest, being stuck with a money pit would be an absolute disaster. The Audi loving wife would never forgive me.

I'm guessing a 2006 QP is going to be worth peanuts by 2015. Will be interesting what sort of residual it will hold by then. Again though, the initial outlay isn't the problem. It's getting stuck with a dog that would be.

It's a one owner vehicle. Elderly gentleman. No kids so the seats are absolutely immaculate. Bought new and always serviced at a Maserati dealership.

Going to have another look today.

Don't think the QP will fall out of bed money wise by 2015...No different to any other car of its type..and in fact it has great residuel compared to some.
Good luck with your viewing ..SOunds like a good one and I'm sure it will win you over.

Very close now lads to sealing the deal.

Just waiting on a pre-purchase inspection to determine clutch wear and any other incidentals.

Quick question for the QP owners on here in particular, but general Maser owners as well, how does this model deal with the stresses of being a daily drive anf how many members use it as such?

I'll be communting roughly 17kms each way so assuming that won't affect wear and tear too much.

The dealer pointed out today how to drive a Duo Select. Always have it in manual mode, always brake firmly on a steep hill instead of riding the clutch. Reverse down the home driveway rather than up it. Seems to all make sense.

Hi Cavalier,
Only used mine as a daily driver for about 2 weeks, took me to the station and back when I was working in London a year or so ago...
this was a round trip of about 16 miles per day, I know this is only a very short period of time, but I feel it had no adverse affects...
I know there are a few on here who have their masers as daily drivers and have not heard any bad comments.
Good Luck,
Regards,
Enzo.
