Hi Andy, for some reason that site is really slow. You get a black screen for what seems like an age, but give it a couple of minutes and it will load. Then tab to the menu. Cheers, Miles.

Hi Guys and Gals,

Budgie has been on the case with Villa d'Este and it has to be said, the increased numbers have been causing some consternation, particularly in the Christmas run up when the restaurant is already busy.

Nonetheless, with some cajoling, Budgie has secured us a single table for all diners, and a rate on the house wines.

Now this comes with a trade off, as payment is a bit of an issue with the restaurant, and I do think we need to play ball, so...........

Everyone has made their meal choices - starters and main course. Once vegetables, desserts, coffees and drinks are added, we are looking at either £50 or £55 per person dependent on food choices. Trev is £45 as he's not having a starter and Urby is £45 as his choices are less expensive.

This allows for starter, main course and veg; desserts and coffee as preferred on the night and one bottle of wine per person. It also includes the tip. I'll talk to Budgie to discuss a beer option for the non-wine drinkers.

So basically it's fixed price, dictated by food choices. £45, £50 or £55.

Budgie will gather the money in the pub ahead of dining. This way all the financials can be taken care of before we sit down and the restaurant managers will be happy bunnies. Once that's out of the way, we can then all eat, drink and be merry.

OK went in VD last night, all sorted 1 Table in the middle of the Restaurant (after some debate) (Fabio and Olli both happy got to be a first) (they offered me a job ) if we follow the price in my last email to Miles and as per his cut and paste post from it above i.e. £1240 we get glass of shampoo on arrival, if the wine is not to some peoples taste (unlikely) or prefer beer VD will accommodate within the agreed price.

We meet next door Cross Keys I will sort out bill and food orders give everybody a slip with what they ordered on it (so you do not sit there like simple minded horses as the waiters run up and down saying who the F*** ordered the cow)

I will go next door and sort, then come back to the pub, you lot buy me lots of drinks for sorting this, they come and get us when they are ready. and you lot carry me in..

Please ensure you have enough cash on you in the VD if want extra drinks, they will not have time to do cards, any extra drinks to be paid for at the table when ordered (I agreed this as trade for re-organising the whole bloody Restaurant to accommodate us

I will sort taxis you will get ripped off by hotel, the VD is only just up the road from the hotel I have tame local guys..
