2014 recap in pictures

2014 didn't start exactly how I wanted it to...luckily, no injuries and the damage to me was all ego, to Doris mostly cosmetic

So off she went for a trip to Autoshield and a worrying few weeks waiting for news. Marios worked his magic, both in sourcing parts and dealing with the insurers, and sent me a few "pre-op" photos to keep my stress levels up

04.jpg

Luckily, he also showed me some light at the end of the tunnel

05.jpg

And MAF spotted her in better form on one of his own visits oooop norf, sending a couple of teaser photos across...

The good news finally came and I leapt onto the next west-coast Virgin express to be re-united. I hardly recognised her when I got there, she'd had a bit of a nose job!

08.jpg

But it was love at first sight, she grabbed my heart again - especially as I took her for a tear across the Peak District roads and re-discovered that she handled the corners as good as she looked.

09.jpg

I wasn't the only one who was infatuated

10.jpg

12.jpg

But being only 2, he could even sleep through the roar of of the wind and the exhaust...

11.jpg

Next I took my Italian mistress for a dirty weekend over in Wales, a little romantic spot called Llandow.

13.jpg

14.jpg

We tore the place up and had a great time, but she came out worse for wear in the end...

15.jpg

Maybe I'd said something, but she needed her mascara tidying and her eye lashes re-doing before the trip was out.

And so, off to Bristol for the BIAMF gathering of beautiful Italians. Be they stallions or mistresses, they all wowed the crowds - especially when we woke up the town with a quick "Start Your Engines" minute (or ten). However, Doris managed to be in the sights of the only seagull in town who'd had a bad curry the night before...

16.jpg

She cleaned up well and had a treat, following Safranes new GS through some lovely back roads on the way home.

A trip to France came next, where I came back to the carpark to find her flirting with a despicable lothario.

17.jpg

I don't think she forgave me reminding her of the dangers of holiday romances and dragging her away, so after blowing a succession of gear-box related fuses and burring out an F1 pump she returned to blighty on the back of a flat-bed, while I continued the journey in a euro-box hire car.

Once she was fixed, I fell head over heels again, we forgave each other, and it was time for another trip to Wales. This time to Cardiff and the workshop of ProSpeed.

18.jpg

After all, I couldn't turn up in Le Mans with a sulking Maserati and an embarrassingly quiet exhaust. So she joined her peers with a her head held high and an engine note that could be heard from the next village.

19.jpg

Back to Blighty and we went for another dirty weekend to the peak district where she spent a day chasing some new friends round the hills and showing them just how good (bad?) she can be when she's given some reign to play with

20.jpg

She did look good, but you know these ladies (well, mistresses). There's always something new from exotic places that they hanker for. In this case, a set of spacers was flown in from far eastern shores to help show off her lines..

And after (oh, yes!)
22.jpg

A quick dash to Ace cafe to meet up with some old friends

23.jpg

But times were changing and my mind was starting to wander. A new life was calling me in the far east, and I was starting to think that we needed to part. I took her to the New Forest to take some photos of her that showed her in the best light...

24.jpg

But after one last day away in Silverstone with a couple of hundred of her best friends...

25.jpg

She started a new affair with another forum member, and I started to dream about what would come next.

So on to 2015. It's going to be a lean year for me this year, some consolidation to do after a tumultuous end to 2014, but I'm hoping to come back stronger than ever in 2016 and one of Doris's sisters is definitely on my hit list.

Hope you all have as much of a love affair as I've had. Enjoy them while they are there...although we are only temporary keepers of these lovely vehicles, as a wise man once said to me - you don't want to have a car like this and worry about the miles and not driving her to the full, that's like saving your girlfriend for the next bloke...you wouldn't do that now, would you?

Enjoyed that chris, thanks. Maser owners are indeed a strange breed, we find it almost second nature to attach personalities to our cars..........or should I say, mistresses:auto11:

Obviously you all can see the pictures? I don't seem to be able to. Just get a broken picture symbol.

Likewise, Ian. I have a shot with (I think) three 3200's together, taken at the detailing day this year when I had Doris de-dinged...let me see if I can dig it out.

His Alfa ZX was in the background in the Llandow pic too...facing forwards for a while!
;-)

If most of us have a mistress, Andy has a whole harem, the lucky swine!

The reason i missed the ZX is maybe because i am still in love with the 4200 model :) But i'll have a look at the Llandow pic as well..
