Hi all. I'm looking to buy a 2019/20 Granturismo Sport (mainly for the Skyhook), but I am having real difficulty distinguishing between Sport and MC models. (Most dealers seem to conflate the two.) Any advice on obvious differences would be gratefully received. Many thanks. Paul

So to clarify this for you, the age is important. The original 4.7MC shift model was launched but part of that was an MC sport line kit. This was mainly carbon fibre triming and no Skyhook (i believe). Then Maserati launched the 4.7 Sport and decided to rejig what the MC stood for, so you could have an MC which was automatic sport and had the option of the MC sport line kit, which obviously confused everyone. Erm so no its isnt clear at all!!!

You say "mainly for the skyhook" but just so you're aware, 95% of of post 2013 GT sports have skyhook.

Also, I'm pretty sure all sports have 'Sport' on the passenger dash. MCs have 'MC' on oassenger the dash.
The specs do vary a little over the years though, MC stradale, sport, sport MC, sport MCAuto, MC centennial etc... so have a read around on here, as there's quite a few posts about the subject.

Main things that change that may influence what one you want, are...
Gearbox - auto and MC auto (both have a gearstick selector).
MC - shift (has 1andR buttons instead of stick )

Suspension - skyhook electronic, MC handling pack (fixed rate dampers, lower stiffer springs and larger ARB)
Or standard fixed rate.

Brakes - steel or carbon ceramic

Infotainment - upgraded as the years went on.

Advert descriptions can't be trusted as a lot of dealers don't know the difference and websites auto generate them.
Look at pictures and view the cars to be sure what's what.

I think this is really simple. For 2019 onward cars the MCs with fixed dampers have a bonnet scoop, central exhausts and a vent in the front wing (see pics). The sports do not have a scoop etc. All are ZF 6 speed full automatics. I looked at both when buying my 2019 sport. You also get CarPlay compatible infotainment with a big touchscreen as standard in both models.IMG_3736.jpegIMG_3737.jpegIMG_3738.jpeg

Thanks very much C4sman. This is exactly what I needed :) I'm only interested in the post-2018 facelift model. Looking at the photos, most of the cars on sale seem to be Sports, but the dealers have included MC in the title. Thanks again. Paul

They often include “Stradale” in the title as well, so your are right to research the detail - knowledge is power, or so they say. Good luck with your search, all models are awesome, it’s just the degrees of awesomeness that varies and some of that is in the eyes of the beholder. :p
