It’s interesting to see the same thing happen to Lewis that happened to Vettel before him and Schumacher before that. When no longer in the fastest car, and age catching up, which it inevitably does, the number of crashes/incidents increase again and the fights with team mates become more desperate. The normal life cycle in any athlete I guess, and the same will happen to Max if he doesn’t retire earlier than the others before him. Ayrton unfortunately didn’t get the option, Prost was good till the end, a testament to his cool demeanour, Rosberg retired fearing he would not be good enough which was a bit early and robbed us of some more competition during the Mercedes years.

Agree, though Fernando seems to be delaying the onset of age deterioration. Lewis seems to be holding up so far but he is becoming increasingly bitter. Did you see the interviews with the drivers who rightfully recognised the brilliance of Max and the RB team. Lewis just talked about the fact that Max's team mates have not been anywhere near as good as his! Well I am not sure Sainz was too bad and Danny R probably as good if not better than Bottas at least. Whatever, he would have less detractors if he was a bit less self centred, in my opinion

“Old” Lewis is far less crashy than Max!!!
If we take “old” Lewis as Lewis in the last two years then he has had more penalties for crashing into other drivers than Max has had so I think thats a bit unfair and factually incorrect. Max has been one of the cleanest drivers the last two years.

Lewis in his younger years (if that is what you mean with “old” Lewis) was no choir boy either.

The number of drivers Lewis has taken out the last few years is far higher than Max. At least with Max it was usually an incident with Lewis (and maybe that points to something…). Lewis has had incidents with many drivers the last 3 years. Albon comes to mind (2x). Lewis has been very lucky though as there have been very few instances where it cost him.

I just noticed that there is also a “Super League” where the combined scores of the top 5 PRO players of the individual leagues are counted. They have a Top 100 of scores for every race. Now we are only a small group of mostly first timers and we don’t have PRO players (at least to my knowledge) but I had a look where we would slot in…it’s not pretty but then again there is a big benefit to being a pro. We made the Top 100 4 times out of 13 ( for some reason the score of the first round is not available). We were 83rd in Baku, 98th in Monaco, 82nd in Silverstone and exactly 100th in Monza. We were never worse than 95% of the score of #100 though so I guess that is fairly consistent. Our total to date is 12,945 vs 13,167 for the league in #100, or 98.3% of their score. My guesstimate would be that we are around 110th-115th.

Pro players get more budget as well so they can pick a better selection than us

Regardless what you think of Max you can't argue that in that car he is leagues ahead of anyone else, overall not a bad race Ferrari managed to not feck it up although it looked liked they were trying.

Singapore in two weeks

Without a doubt Andy. An amazing achievement from Max and the team. The fact Perez can’t really get close to him speaks volumes. He certainly seems to have matured the last year or so. He is still a cock nostril though.

Yes. Blocking with or without review is still blocking.

I had pole right, at least...and guessed that 2 would be the race winner. If the Scuderia makes a change next year at driver...who stays?

Great qualifying. The joy of seeing an unhappy Red Bull at the end has made the day. Hope it stays that way tomorrow.

Apart from Max/Red Bull there is a lot of competition this season. This thread is a bit like the current F1 season. Apart from the incessant Max/Red Bull hatred there are some good posts.

Hate is a very harsh word you know and I certain don’t hate any team just don’t like Red Bull. There is too much hate in the world without adding anymore for something as insignificant of team in sport. It is all a bit of fun nothing more.

Loving the Williams in the Gulf livery. Best looking scheme in the grid.

Interesting that normally for impeding another car it’s a grid penaulty yet Max got a telling off and the team a 5000 euro fine. Apparently Red Bull saw the stewards but Alfa Tauri didn’t bother to go. Surprise that as they are the Red Bull sister team. Surely if the stewards see’s an infringement they make the decision and really do not need the two teams to make the decision for them. Even the commentators all thought he would have got a grid penalty. Strange that.

Should be a good race later with how the grid looks. Glad I put Sainz pole now.

You do know that Aston didn’t turn up to the hearing for Sargeant impeding Alonso? It’s apparently not so strange. I‘m presuming you are referring to the Sky F1 commentators. Nothing strange there either as they don’t miss a trick to show Red Bull in a bad light. Come to think of it, it’s a bit like this thread. We do have in common that we both put Sainz on pole though.
