2nd Middle Age Crisis

Went out yesterday and did 15 mile ride around Hampstead (plenty of hills). I can't say that climbing hills is any easier on the puff than a cheap bike but it is definetley more comfortable. Carbon fibre frames make a big difference to comfort.

Anyone want to join me for a sunday ride are more than welcome and yes Dem if you ever want to go out for a ride thats cool.

I plan doing 15/20miles 3 times a week with perhaps a 40/50 mile ride on Sundays. This I am hoping will be my routine through the winter weather permitting. In the spring and summer months I want to double that per week.

I plan to do the ride Lands End to John O'Groats next September and to raise some serious money in the names of the two close friends I have recently lost, one to palmanory fibrosis and the other to a brain tumour.

Riding a bike may not be quite like driving a supercar but it is extremely relaxing if you can find a good route away from traffic. I have to say I am terrified cycling around London or for that matter on any A roads, but find a good circuit in the country and there is nothing to beat it.

I was sorely tempted to buy the Maserati bike but good sense prevailed. One has to consider how good the bike really is and how much it is worth. I am sure a huge chunk of change would be to have the bike branded Maserati and as beautiful as the bike maybe it is still just a bicycle.

UM sounds good mate. There are a few runs out on a Sunday. Crouch end Clock tower at around 9am always had a good mix of abilities riding the same route 50 to 70 miles with a coffee break half way.

I have to settle for a solo 65 to 80 miler on Wintery Sunday mornings, you get the odd mainland group hope on the ferry on the sunny days but I'm mostly on my todd.

The bonus here is that there is not much traffic and the is routes are very undulating with a cat 1 & two cat 2 climbs if I'm feeling strong. Oh and it's a beautiful view all the way round!

It can't be very scenic from Crouch End. Does the route involve many A roads?????. I need to get a few 30/40 milers under my belt before taking on 65/80 miles. You seem a lot fitter than me and probably much younger too. Let me know where the route goes.

I have a Hollywood rack to take the bike out of London. Seems like a much healthier option than breathing in the **** of London

One good ride might be to ride up to Milton Keynes and to get Loz to buy us lunch :tomato9:
