i would like a 308 then i can put on my stick-on black moustache when i go for a drive in it. 328 is better looking in my opinion, now they have started to creep up in price.

Funnily enough I have always wanted a 308 which I prefer to the 328, principally the interior which, with its toggle switches and slides just has a class 60/70s feel as opposed to the square plastic stuff in a 328. I'd be very happy with a dark blue 308GTBi black interior RHD in the garage parked next to a 3500 Vignale also in dark blue.........wake up man wake for god sake there's work to be done! Hurrumpf.
PS wouldn't bother with a left hook carb car when for not much more you could still access a RHD with injection - ok the sound might not keep the purists happy but a lot less fiddling and fettling. Sadly by the time I've got any spare cash they'll all be £50K. Sniff.

Some years back when I thought I could finally aford an Italian beastie I looked around for an entry level car from the three main houses, i.e. Ferrari, Maserati & Lamborghini.
I considered an Uracco for around 18K (which at the time was beyond my budget and it was a LHD). I then looked at a 308GTBi on an X reg in blue with cream hide. The guy let me test drive it and it was a raw car when you are used to a modern BMW company car. Best I could describe it would be like go-kart. Great fun easy to drive but with one heavy clutch, and I'd agree with the above in that the interior styling was nice, the shape was pure, before the changes that brought the 328 and beyond.
Again this was up for 20K, which meant I'd be really pushing it, but the bodywork let it down as there were fist sized lumps in the C pillar (looked like filler bulges when rust gets underneath it) and black tape in the channel that runs the length of the car.
All things considered I spent a lot more than my budget on the Khamsin, classic case of heart ruling the head, but I too wouldn't say no to having one in the stable, whether I could afford it is another matter. Let's see how the markets behave this year when they start coming up as the weather improves, be a good indicator as for a few years they have been available for between 20K & 25K.
