mostly because they are made in very low volumes and secondly because its a Maserati and its becomes less exclusive if the parts are cheap, so they charge what they can get. While we all complain about the price of parts and some of the design issues, these cars are not designed on a budget, they are designed to perform in style and put a smile on your face in a way most cars don't. They are also relatively rare, and the parts are a bit exclusive making them expensive, supply and demand. So why is the DBW so expensive? because its part of a system that gets 370 HP out of a 3 liter engine, you want cheap get a DBW for a ford 3 liter V6 which develops 200 HP.

What i was really trying to ask was why is the cost of a DBW so high compared to a pedat pot, if in fact they both accomplish the same end goal. Please correct me if im wrong thanks

I'm slightly confused by that statement; DBW = drive by wire (no ?). And the pedal pot is part of that system, as is the throttle body. Both use a resistive track for the feedback position.

Correct DBW describes the whole system which includes the Potentiometer at the pedal end (two circuit outputs) and the Throttle Body Potentiometers at the engine end. Both OEM parts wear out in different circumstances and these Contactless upgrades are a much better proposition going forward. Both of mine have a lifetime guarantee.
