3200 Build Dates..

Does anyone know how to check original 3200 build dates... not registration dates, without faffing about with ringing a main dealer..

Could the info be in the Vin plate code...

As far as I know there is no way to identify the production date of 3200 other than contacting the main dealer. You cannot determine even the year of production using the VIN.

You can guess a bit with the vin. For example mine was c700 (look at the last 4 digits) and was built Summer/Autumn 99 or thereabouts. Someone will tell you how many 3200s were built then do some averaging. Production started early 99 and ended mid 2002 IIRC.

There's a guy at Maserati UK who has all sorts of usual information, way more than a MD in my opinion. He is Paul ... something. His name escapes me right now but I have his details somewhere here.

As some of these old cars when new were sitting around in dealer's showrooms for 6 or 9 months before they were sold and registered for the first time..

There is also a list out there somewhere with production figures for each year, so combining the two you should be able to get a good idea. I'll see if I can track it down.
