Hi all, we are currently looking to manufacture alternative front pads and discs for the GTS, as originals are ridiculously expensive.

Just was after some feed back on whether there would be interest and demand for them, any comment welcome

Cheers

Hi Mathew.......very good news. We had for the 4200/Gs cars sourced them via a good motor factors guy...ie measured them up and found Ferrari 550 Brembos were the same......is that a route we can try first??

Right we have done some research and i am in the process of getting a company to quote to make some discs. We offer upgraded pads already but needed discs, so watch this space

They do seem to be prone to warping. Mine were warped when I picked her up. After a lot of wrangling with the dealer they skimmed them. I was not convinced as previous attempts at skimming resulted in brake vibration coming back a few k's down the road.

The main dealer had one of these bolt to the car skimmers and I have to say the results were excellent and all for 3hrs labour.

Mathew its great that you are considering this but just be aware that the skimming is effective...ok whilst there is enough meat left on them.

All the best and keep us up to speed with your progress.

Just an update chaps....

FD have a oversized brake disc conversion that is to be released any day now. Comes with enlarged 380mm 2 Piece Discs, Caliper Relocation brackets, Pads, SS Lines, huge unsprung weight saving etc. All for less than the OEM discs and pads.

These will be offered as a complete kit or just the discs and relocating bracket.

Also FD are looking into making a direct replacement disc for the 6 Piston calipers. The OEM discs use Brembo Dual Cast technology to make them lighter, it's almost like a 2pc disc and is patented. the easiest option would be to make a traditional 1 piece discs but this will work out to be significantly heavier than OEM discs, increasing unsprung weight, leading to all the negatives affects that the increased unsprung weight brings.

Good news and after alot of research we have an answer, which has some benefits over the original.

We now offer a kit that is a direct replacement for the original brake pads and discs for Granturismo 4.7 GTS and Quattroporte 4.7S and GTS (all models with 6 pot calipers).
The kit adds an improvement to the braking of the car without the need to do any modifications to the calipers, hubs and mountings.

The replacement items come as pads, rotors and hub bells also one further point about our kit is, once the rotor wears out this can be replaced without replacing the hub components, thus making replacement even cheaper the second time.

Any feedback is always welcome.
